Re: Anyone delivering/ed at LIJ...
I delievered there around this time last year. They were very relaxed on visitors the whole time.
You can also pretty much keep your baby with you at all times if you so desire.

Yup. You send the baby back to the nursery whenever you want.

Re: Anyone delivering/ed at LIJ...
I just got back from the tour at LIJ this weekend. Visiting hours are 10-10 for family members and 12-2 & 6-8 for everyone else. There is a maximum 2 people other than DH allowed at a time, but they said that it is not enforced at all unless you have a roommate who has a problem with excessive visitors. Then they can call security to enforce the 2 visitor rule. There's a good way to make friends! I can't imagine that would ever be the case though. If you have a private room, DH can stay overnight, but if you have a roommate it is not allowed. Not as of Sunday, but very soon, NO SIBLINGS (or any children) under the age of 18 will be allowed in the hospital at all. This is due to HINI and the nurse anticipated that it would start in the next few weeks. This will be strictly enforced.
Let me know if you have any other questions while the info is still fresh in my preggo brain.

Re: Anyone delivering/ed at LIJ...
I was just discharged from LIJ today. No one under 18 years old is allowed in L&D and Postpartum due to H1N1.
Visiting hours are from 1-8. They wouldnt even let my MIL come in today when I was being discharged around 11 am. She had to wait downstairs in the waiting room.
Those were the only visitor restrictions I was aware of.

Re: Anyone delivering/ed at LIJ...
I'll have to ask my OBGYN at the next appt. She puts in hours each week at LIJ...I completely understand the restriction but my heart just broke into a million pieces...I can't imagine not seeing my son while I am there

Re: Anyone delivering/ed at LIJ...
We were there the other day. They are VERY strict bc of H1N1. We had to sanitize before we went in for our appt. They also asked us a million ?'s about whether or not we have experienced any type of flu like symptoms. They called us ahead of time and told us we couldn't bring anyone under the age of 18 with us and they would be checking ID if someone looked close to that age.
I'm sure they'll keep updating/ revising their policy as the H1N1 situation keeps changing.

I know! This is my first, but other ladies were really upset about not being able to have their other children there. I can't imagine.

Re: Anyone delivering/ed at LIJ...
This just doesnt make sense to me...anyone can get H1N1, they are making it like you have to be under 18 to be contagious or something.

That really sucks but I don't think anyone would think she was under 18, plus when you go in -- no one really pays attention to you, you just go right in so make sure she goes right in the room.
