DH has a problem - what do we need? A podiatrist?

DH has some kind of painful bump on his foot and when we looked for information, it looks like it could be either a bunion, bursitis, or a bone spur.

Anyone had this situation and know if we have to get a referral from our GP for a Podiatrist or some other specialist? And if you had a recco for someone in Suffolk (we're in St. James but will travel for a good doc), that would be great too.

I think an orthopedist could help too - I don't have any Suffolk recommendations though. Sorry!

Yes, I'd go to a podiatrist.

I've had similar issues. It was a Morton's Neuroma

My podiatrist is Dr. Keslonsky from Huntington Medical Group.

I have an AWESOME Podiatrist right on 111 in Smithtown/Hauppauge. See Dr. Bodamer!!

ETA: I have been going to him for years and so does my family and DH's family. We all rally like him and he did an outstanding surgery on my mom. My referrals could go on and on! You will love him!

I agree that you should see a podiatrist. I have had bone spurs, bursitis, achilles tendonitis, etc. and a podiatrist specializes in those issues. I use Dr. Epstein on Route 110 in Melville (just north of the Northern State Pkwy).
