Cat owners...need help with my vomiting cat
Our cat Nugget is 2 1/2 years old. The first year we had him, everything was great--he was the picture of health (he still is, really...). But about a year ago, he started vomiting pretty regularly...about 2-3 times per week.
We took him to the vet, they said he might have a sensitive stomach, so we changed him to special food. For about 4 months, everything was great...no more vomiting!
Now for the PAST 6 months or so, he's been vomiting VERY regularly...4-5 times per week. I am SO frustrated...because even though our downstairs is half wood, he always manages to find a good spot on one of our off-white carpets
We're not even sure what to do anymore. The carpet on the landing right outside our bedroom is literally STIFFENED from all the times we've had to use Spot Shot on the carpet. It's so gross that I won't even step on it anymore.
And just before was the worst of all...my 1 year-old DD was crawling around in our bedroom. She reached under the bed for what I THOUGHT was her paci or a toy, and she pulled her hand out with a nice, fresh pile of vomit
I am just at the end of my rope and I don't know what to do anymore...

I would take him back to the vet. That much vomiting is definitely not normal.

Yeah...I'm definitely going to bring him in. I think I might try a new vet, though--the last time they said, "We'll try switching his food, but if that doesn't work, that's probably just the way he is".

Re: Cat owners...need help with my vomiting cat
i would def take him back to the vet!
however, he may be having issues passing hairballs. my cat went throught something like your cat is going through... a while ago he was throwing up A LOT!! im talking at one point, he had thrown up 3 times in one DAY!
he had just been at the vet so i knew he was fine.... after calling some of my cat references lol they said that he may be having issues passing hairballs... i was told to buy Petromalt and give it to him once a week... and that did the trick! i've never had issues with him throwing up since i started giving him the Petromalt

Re: Cat owners...need help with my vomiting cat
my cat was a frequent vomiter also. i took him into the vet to get checked out and everything was fine, so i switched his food to Innova EVO, and poof, no more vomiting! i did a lot of research on food, and this one is by far the best out there for cats, and any vet i've spoken to agrees. it's pricey, but so worth it to not have vomit all the time! petco and petsmart don't carry it, but pet supplies plus and a lot of the smaller shops do. their website lists the stores that have it or you can just order online. good luck!

Re: Cat owners...need help with my vomiting cat
Thank you all SO MUCH for the suggestions. I will try that new food, and I'll try the Petromalt as well. We HAVE noticed that it's mostly food, and not much fur that comes up, so it's quite possible he's having trouble passing the hairballs.
Thanks again!
