Endometrial Ablation
Has anyone had this done?
If yes what procedure did you have done?
Im looking into NovaSure and wanted to know anyones thoughts on the subject...(why one procedure over another etc)
Did it stop your periods completely or just lessen them? If it only decreased them by how much?

Hi I had this done in 2004, I am a lot older then you are I am sure. Not sure what one they did, it was explained that it is like a balloon and it heats up and burns away the wall. I have never gotten my period again. Was great to be 45 and have it over with. LOL

Thanks....Im done having kids...tubes are tied etc....(Im 37)
From what I understand the new procedure "freezes" the lining instead...
I'd rather do it, which ever way, makes period go bye bye...

I am sure they have had a few different ways of doing this procedure since 2004.
I don't regret it for a minute, good luck and I hope your period goes away too.

my mother had it done in 1999, the first year it came out... for her it only decreased her periods but drastically.... she also had the balloon with the heat that burns off the lining...
she said it was the best thing she ever did even though she was still getting her period and still does at 63....

Do you know if her periods were very heavy? Mine are so bad that leaving the house for the first couple days is impossible. Was that the reason why she had it done?

Have you looked into why you have such heavy periods? I just think that sometimes doctors want to do something about the bleeding but knowing why can tell you how successful a particular procedure will be. I have definitely heard success stories about endometrial ablation but one friend was still bleeding enough that she was becoming anemic so she later had a hysterectomy. Still, it was nothing ventured, nothing gained for her and it was worth a try. She'd probably talk with you about it if you want.

I had bleeding non stop for 6 weeks, so that was the only think she offered at the time. Thankfully it worked for me.

We are definitely addressing the situation. My Testosterone levels we above normal and Ive been put on steroids to address that issue. My current problem is finding a doctor to listen to me...My current endo says its a OBGYN issue but my OBGYN says its an endo issue that it would only be a concern of his if I were trying to conceive (which Im obviously not). Im going to make an appointment with Kelly's Endo....and an appointment with Stacey's GP. Both seem to be more on the ball than my current practioners.
But all in all my periods have always been very heavy. Im not really up for a hysterectomy but would be more than willing to do the Endometrial Ablation if it could end some of my discomfort.

her periods were so heavy that she would go through a pad every 1/2 hour.... she just couldnt take it anymore

Im like every hour for the first 2 days. I can take it any more....My only other option is BCP but my tubes are tied so that doesnt seem like the right answer.
Since the shop is closed I think this is the way that I should go. I just dont know if I should go with the procedure that has been around for awhile or go with the newer one...
