anyone attend a support group
I have been thinking that maybe a support group would help.
I did some research online and found the Guardian Angel Perinatal Support Group.
I was just wondering if anyone has attended a support group and your thoughts/feelings on it.

Re: anyone attend a support group
Hope I am not crashing...Two months ago I lost my daughter at 38 weeks 3 days, and I have attended 2 of the Guardian Angel Meetings...I have found it to be very helpful for me. I will let you know that it can be very emotional though, and that there are a range of different scenarios people have gone through, ie. stillbirth, infant loss, miscarriage. It's often hard for me to sit there and listen to everyone else's stories, as they seem to open up my pain a little more, but in the end, I leave feeling a bit better for a little while :)

Re: anyone attend a support group
My DH and I attended a support group offered by the hospital immediately after we had to terminate our pregnancy at 22 weeks.
We were skeptical at first because I did not think there was anything that could help ease the tremendous pain we were both feeling. I attended my first meeting less than a wee after I got out of the hospital. It was the best thing we could have done. My DH and I not only gained some really good friends but we began our healing process in a supportive environment.
Our group was small, only 3 couples. We had all gone through different experiences at different stages of pregnancy but we all were grieving the same way. My DH and I looked forward to our meetings every week and even though they are technically over, we all still get together.
I hope this helps.

Re: anyone attend a support group
I have been wanting to join a support group but did not want to go with out the support of my DH. I do know that there is one at St. Kilian's Church in F'dale. I believe it's the first Friday of every month and is run by a nurse. I do plan on going-soon!

Re: anyone attend a support group
I didn't attend a support group, but my local hospital had me in regular touch with a bereavement midwife, I didn't see her in the end as I was quite comfortable with what had happened, but it was nice that she called me to let me know what was going on with the babys remains etc.
It would probably help if you feel you need to speak to someone! Good luck!

I heard about that support group too. It was reccomended by the leader of the support group I attended since the group I went to was only 8 weeks.

The group at St. Kilian's is the Guardian Angels group that the OP had mentioned...this is the one I have gone to. It's lead by women who have experienced losses.
