Initials
Are they playing a part in what name you pick for DC?
It hasn't for me. I actually didn't think much about the initials till I was on the phone with my friend who was telling me her nephews initials are DIC.
If we have a boy his initials may be BSR. Not a big deal and our girl will have SIR.

Yes, my last name starts with a "S", so anything that would result in A.S.S. is out!!!

Re: Initials
Yes. Only b/c my DH was a mean little brother. My BIL is George Albert B____ . GAB. He had his initals on his backpack when they were younger & my DH would call him Gabby. He would say George what is GAB when you add a letter GABBY. He tortured him. The next year BIL only had GB on his backpack. We will most likely have an AGB. So we are ok there. I think SIR is fine, DIC on the other hand hopefully no one notices.

Re: Initials
Oh yes.... The name we picked if it will be a girl was thanks to my husband desperately trying to find names that fit the "acronym". The initials will spell out EPEK (aka, "epic"). In the end, I'm fine with the name b/c it's a beautiful combination of my grandmother, my mother and my name, but my dh was a tad bit overboard with trying to make it work out in favor of the initials combo.

Re: Initials
Maybe....if it was something that could be embarrassing.
Our last name starts w/ an L. Our daughters can't have a first and middle name of D and S bc they would be DSL. Yikes.
If our last name started w/ a T we wouldn't name a son Patrick Oliver (POT).
If they spelled out something like SIR or CAR or MOM, I wouldn't care.

Re: Initials
We actually used L and M on purpose for our son because he is names after DH's grandfather (Louis) and my grandfather (Marvin).
But other than that, no, we didn't think about what they would "look" like.
Same with DD. She doesn't have a name yet but the initials didn't come into play at all.

Re: Initials
initials did come into play with us. my brother's initials are EWW and althought no one noticed in school to tease him or anything like that, as an adult he won't put his initials on a monogram or anything b.c of it. not that its such a big deal but i did consider it.

not preggo, but if we have a girl, we've decided on Meghan Elizabeth and our last name starts with a "G" so her initials would be "MEG"

Re: Initials
Sort of.
I am KKC and DH is JJC. We don't really want to go with another double letter name because in my mind it would be something we would have to stick with for any future kids, KWIM?
Also my sister is VD and brother is STD. Apparently my parents didn't think about it either!

What is your girl name if you don't mind my asking.....I need an S girl name. Think we have one but still looking for other ideas. Sadie is our #1 choice right now. DH likes Sydney but I'm not sure how i feel about it.

Re: Initials
My poor baby....if its a girl it will probably be Hannah Annette (after my mom) and our last name begins with an M which means her initals will be HAM
if its a boy his name will be Shaun Timothy (after my DH) so his initials will be STM.....my brother keeps referring "him" as ST. M**** b/c we're catholic.
My dad jokes that if its a boy he thinks it should be named Louis Timothy (Louis after himself and Tim after my DH) so his initials would be LT....good football name he says

Re: Initials
It is a thought. But first we need to come up with some names we like I also like to do the rhyming game-like what rhymes with a name that kids might potentially tease our little one with.

Re: Initials
we kept it in the back of our heads...just to make sure it didn't spell anything silly.
my dh's are w.a.d (formal) and b.a.d (informal) but it didn't affect him growing up...its just funny.

Re: Initials
Absolutely. I even went so far as to think about DD changing her last name when she gets married.
REH now. Worst case, is it could be: RED (nothing wrong with a color) REF (nothing wrong with being a referee) REM (mmmm.... REM sleep.... :) ) REO (Speedwagon? Who in her age bracket knows them?) REV (car related, not bad) REW (rewind? Again, who her age, growing up with DVDs and iPods knows about rewinding?) REX (odds of finding someone with an X... last name is pretty slim)
