this has been bugging me all weekend.
I remember a story but can't remember the name of the book (or was it a movie)

old south
rich white man with daughter and black nanny
watched a boy and 2 other girls
the four kids became very very close
they all stay in touch with nanny as they grow
the daughter gets married (but is in love with the boy)
nanny grows old in southern house that is turning to rubble.
