If you were throwing a cocktail party...
...and wanted to serve hors doeuvres/finger foods, what would be on the menu??
Bonus points if they're items you can make yourself, or easily locate a place to buy them!

Re: If you were throwing a cocktail party...
You could buy some puff pastry, roll it out and doctor it up with maybe some anchovies, some sun dried tomatoes, and some parmesean cheese. Those are easy to do!

Re: If you were throwing a cocktail party...
We do several around the holidays. We get a lot of the frozen appetizers they have at Stop & Shop. Pigs in the blanket, potato skins, etc. There are also some puff pastry thingies too..
I also put out various dips, veggies, fruit and cheese and crackers.
I've also picked up wings at Checkers to put out on occasion for the guys.

buy the small bread squares and top them with whatever you like. I prefer scallion cheese with lox but you can create whatever you'd like with them. Fruit skewers, vegetable skewers, pigs n blankets.

Re: If you were throwing a cocktail party...
costco sells some good frozen apps. Mini quiche, bacon wrapped Scallops, etc. You can get the mozzarella balls there to make those kabobs from the PP.

Re: If you were throwing a cocktail party...
I just made this over the weekend:
Mozzerella, Basil, Tomato Crostinis Crostinis
Hot Artichoke Dip Dip
Fried Ravioli ravioli
Homemade Salsa (A little spicy for my taste...I only used 1 jalapeno with seeds removed, but I also used diced tomatoes with green chiles in them...so next time I will use regular diced tomatoes) Salsa

Totally stealing this--yum!
I usually do a guacamole dip and a seven layer--I find these are always a hit.
I like a brushetta
Spinach Articoke is another popular one...
stuffed mushrooms
mini hotdogs always go fast
pizzas! You can make a cple different kinds--white pizza, pepperoni etc.

Re: If you were throwing a cocktail party...
Roasted Shrimp Cocktail (Ina Garten) is my favorite for parties these days.
I also love just having a cheese board with flatbreads and some grapes nearby.
lollipop lambchops are always a huge hit at my parties.

Re: If you were throwing a cocktail party...
Some of the items I would serve and would all be made by me:
Raspberry Brie Cups
Pigs in the Blanket
Stuffed Mushrooms
Creamy Bruchetta Dip with Crustinis for dipping
Cheesy sausage on pumpernickel squares
Chicken Satay
Then the usual...
Cheese and Crackers
Fruit platter
vegetable platter
Spinach dip in a bread bowl.

Re: If you were throwing a cocktail party...
I agree with everything everyone else posted... also this Hot Pizza Dip always goes over really well:
Hot Pizza Dip
Source: The Pampered Chef
8 ounces cream cheese softened 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded 3/4 cup parmesan cheese 1 (8 ounce) can pizza sauce 2 tablespoons green bell pepper chopped 2 tablespoons green onions sliced
Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
Combine cream cheese and Italian seasonings; spread onto a 8-inch mini-baker.
In a small bowl, combine mozzarella and parmesan. Sprinkle 1/2 on top of the cream cheese. Spread pizza sauce over the cheese mixture. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Top with bell pepper and green onions. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes.
Serve with French bread or fresh vegetable dippers.
