When can we get bunk beds?
We can not fit 2 twin beds in the room comfortably, and right now they are almost 5 and still sleeping in their toddler Thomas bed. They love the bed so I don't have to switch them, but I think one of my kids is getting too tall for it. At what age can they sleep on the top bunk? 5 seems too young.

Re: When can we get bunk beds?
I think the recommendation is 7 years. Not sure though.

Re: When can we get bunk beds?
Robbie and Noah started using the bunk bed about a week before Robbie turned 5. Noah is on the bottom bunk (3 years old) and Robbie has always had the top. I had no idea there was a recommended age!
I was nervous.. but there is a guard on the side of the bed. I feel terrible that I didn't give it a second thought!

Re: When can we get bunk beds?
We will be getting bunk beds in March. DS will be 8 and he will get the top bunk when it's time for DS #2 to go into his own bed.

My 7, my son's feet will be on Thomas' funnel. Maybe we can stunt his growth.

Re: When can we get bunk beds?
We have friends who got a twin over full bunk bed and for now the girls are in the full together and then when they get bigger one will move up to the twin.

Re: When can we get bunk beds?
My twin nieces were just about 4.
My kids will probably get them next year....ages 3 and 4. If I still don't think they're ready I'll wait another year or even 2. I'm in no rush.

Normally this would be fine, but it was hard to get them to sleep in their own toddler bed, so I don't want to go back to one bed and have them not want to seperate again. IT was funny seeing two of them smooshed into one tiny bed, LOL.

Re: When can we get bunk beds?
My nephew didn't start sleeping on his top bunk until he was 7. You could consider getting a trundle bed in the mean time.

Re: When can we get bunk beds?
We got DD a loft bed a few months ago so she was 5 1/2. It depends on the child and if you think they will be comfortable sleeping up higher, some kids aren't. Recommendation is 6 but I think 5 is fine if you feel like they are ready. I got bunks for my boys 2 summers ago. DS #1 was almost 6 and DS #2 was 2. 2 yr old was in the bottom bunk obviously.

Re: When can we get bunk beds?
We have a twin XL loft bed for DD. She'll be 4 in July. DS (2) is in a queen bed underneath, but he has napped in the top bed. He's actually quite good at getting up and down.
It looks similar to this, except we have a queen below (no head or footboard) and the wood is a walnut stain:
