Another b-day party question.
Bella's b-day is the first week of kindergarten. I feel like there isn't enough time to plan a party based on her new classmates because of this. And well, I don't want to make her wait until October for a party.
My thoughts were this: a party that invites all her old classmates (they scatter at the end of June after graduation)
Should I do it at the end of August before the school year starts or that first weekend? Do you think all of her friends will come to a party for a kid no longer her classmate?
Should I book it now?

Re: Another b-day party question.
I would probably skip the school party this year and just invite family and close friends. Give her a year to start making connections and getting to know the folks she will be in school with for the next dozen years - and have a school party next year!
Otherwise.. after the boys graduated PreK we kept addresses and phones for friends they were especially close to and did play dates with them over the summer. If you are consistent with the play dates over the summer it won't seem weird to send an invitation in August if you really want to do a school party!
Good luck!

Re: Another b-day party question.
thanks....
we skipped a party last year, so now that I wrote this out I definitely want to give her a party. Especially since we have been to all 22 parties that have been thrown during the school year. We have an address list for the class and most of her classmates have been with her since she was 4 months old as it's a daycare/pre-school.
I guess I am more thinking should I have it a week or two before her bday or the weekend after?

Re: Another b-day party question.
Bella and Katherine both have such awkward birthdays!
I'd probably do it sooner riather than later. Those are her friends now. Luckily, Kate's staying in the same school, so I won't have that same problem...but I am wondering whether or not to invite the "old" kids from Pre-K who are leaving since we're having the party probably around 9/11.

Re: Another b-day party question.
Maybe you can do a 'graduation party' type thing instead?
Otherwise .. I'd do it sooner rather than later! All the other kids will be gearing up for kindergarten too so you want to get them before it gets too crazy!
It should be fun!

Joseph has a Sept birthday too.
Because she's new to a school, I would do it with her new classmates. Push it to the end of Sept.(Yom Kippur is Sept 18th -which you may want to plan around)
It only takes a week before they have friends.
yeah, I see your point...I guess I just thought we'd have one last hurrah with the people she has spent her whole life thus far...PLUS, she has been to every single party for them this year....Her bday is 9/8, so pushing it close to end of September isn't ideal for me...
I was planning on cupcakes for her new school friends.

Jacob is in the same boat..
WE are doing his party Sept 1st. It is a Wednesday night party for dinner at Pump it up. FOr us this was the best way to do it. If people are away there is nothing I can do about.. what will be will be
There are 13 kids from his class this year I am inviting and if he wants me to invite anyne from camp.

yeah....isn't it frustrating that their bdays will always be the first or second week of school? We go to public school, so we have the added bonus of Rosh Hoshannah and two days off right away...Katherine goes to Catholic, right?

I knew that you, Eireann, and I had discussed timing before....it's so frustrating...
My birthday is mid-August and growing up there was NO ONE around. Not that we had money to throw a party...but even just to come over for cake...it's an awkward time of year.

Re: Another b-day party question.
Since Bella has known most of these kids for years I would have a party at the end of August. Most people may view it as a last hurrah and get the old gang together.
