Re: caribbean islands
I really enjoyed St. Lucia, St. Thomas and St. Marteen. I have not been to St. John, but I have heard wonderful things about it.

Re: caribbean islands
I am partial to Barbados of allllll the Carribean Islands I have been to. It is very very safe, hurricane-free, beautiful, friendly, educated, literate....highest literacy rate of all the islands, 3rd highest in the world. Basically no unemployemtn so you don't get followed around by people trying to sell you stuff.
Amazing coral reefs, outstanding food, and tourists from all over the world, much more international than most islands.
And the sunsets!!!

Re: caribbean islands
I love Cabbage Beach on the Bahamas On St Marteen we went to honeymoon beach, it was so nice. Tiki bar, jet skis, skinny dipping We had a good time
St Thomas was okay
Grand Caymen-did not do anything for me
Costa Maya-I love this place, so friendly great water, they know exactly how to handle tourism.
Cozumel-nice beach, we partied at Senor Frogs a little too much so it is a little foggy to me

Re: caribbean islands
Just curious, what makes barbados " hurricane free"? Is it just they have been lucky all this time? I have always wanted to go there

I loved St. Lucia. That is the only island I have been to.
My brother and SIL have been to Aruba sevaral time and they love it. In fact, everyone I know who has been there has loved it.

For whatever reason, it is JUST outside the pathway....I think it has been like 50 years since they were hit. Although when we were there last year for our HM, they were ALMOST hit...by Ivan the terrible. Flights were cancelled, but we had so much fun those extra 2 days we had to stay there!!!
I would recommend the Coral Reef Club in Barbados... see random reviews here:

Re: caribbean islands
I 2nd Barbardo!! I went to Almond Beach Adult Village, it is all inclusive if you like that type of vacation (we loved it!!) The other hotel that is beautiful is the Fairmont Royal Pavillion.
I also loved Aruba, St Lucia and Negril in Jamaica.
Aruba is actually outside the hurricae belt so no chance of a hurricane actually hitting the island. They might get rain from it and last year they had to close the airport because of the rain but the actual hurricane doens't hit.

Re: caribbean islands
ARuba is really nice, I would probably say my favorite in the Caribbean.
I've also been to St. Lucia, Turks and Caicos, and the Dominican Republic but I would suggest all inclusives for those two places.
Puerto Rico is really nice too.
The only place I didn't like and wouldn't go back to is Nassau, Bahamas.
