Vertically challenged.

I grew up in a family of short people. My dad is about my height which is 5'3". My mom towers at about 5'6". Both of my sisters are part of the 4'11" and the 4'11-1/2" club. They are probably both exaggerating.

So we used to laugh and say we are vertically challenged. My dad would even play Randy Newman's "Short People" and his lesser known "Tall People" song.

We were used to it.

But now I've recognized that my children are a new breed of vertically challenged.

They're only 7 & 8 so I have no idea how tall they'll really be. What I have confirmed is they cannot sleep in a vertical position. They've both snuck into our beds only to be kicked out just now because even in a king size bed there is not enough room for two people to sleep vertical & two children to sleep horizontal. Maybe the correct term is parallell challenged. They cannot sleep parallel to someone. They are of the perpendicular persuasion. Actually now that I consider it, they cannot even stand parallel next to us without leaning against us so maybe that word makes more sense.

Me? At the moment though...I'm sleep challenged.Chat Icon Chat Icon

Wow. We really ARE living parallel lives! Noah's not so pad.. but Robbie lies in this diagonal line with his head near me and his feet near Rob. When Noah tries to cuddle too there is drama because Robbie is 'touching' Noah.
