Kraupners - seriously???
So I had my first real experience with Kraupners today. They had called me a few days ago for my insurance info and then asked for my payment information at that time. Since they couldn't tell me how much my order was going total until it was processed I asked them to call me back when that went through with the total and I would give them the payment info.
The girl called me today and said that my total was over $400 (which I know isn't a lot in the scheme of things, since my insurance does cover everything), but I asked for the breakdown of costs associated with each drug. She listed them all for me and many were over the maximum $50 copay that I have for Rx coverage. Of course she couldn't provide me with any other information.
So I called my insurance company and the amazingly nice woman who answered exlained everything to me. First of all she thought that my doctor should have realized that my insurance company has an account setup with a specific Fertility PHarmacy, who knows how to correctly process my benefits. Second, she said that Kraupners was able to process some of the drugs, but for others that were rejected (b/c they didn't go through the 'preferred pharmacy') they just charged me without going through my insurance.
I'm so glad that I called my insurance company (and that this order was processed well before I actually needed any of the drugs!).
Has anyone else had any problems with Kraupners?
Does anyone have any experience with Freedom Fertility Pharmacy??

Re: Kraupners - seriously???
I once had a problem where a drug I ultimately paid $15 for, I was originally told would cost over $400!! It took going through 4 different people at Kraupner's until someone FINALLY got their act together- and now every time I order a refill of this drug, I have to explain the situation to them!
Other than that, I haven't had any real issues with them.. .though, in general I much prefer Freedom.

Re: Kraupners - seriously???
I've posted a few times about how much I hate Kraupners. DESPISE them. From the overcharging, to the 1AM deliveries.
I've used Freedom pharmacy a few times and it was a complete pleasure from start to finish. They were courteous, patient, delivered during the day, and cheaper! I also found that everything was labeled well and organized superbly. When I got deliveries from Kraupner's it looked like they used left over vials and masking tape as labels for some of the stuff.

They just seem much more professional... better to deal with over the phone overall, and the medications (specifically injectibles) come better packaged. On Kraupner's my injections have arrived on a melted icepack- but with Freedom, it arrives in a freezer back with a few very frozen ice packs- as though it could stay like that for days!

I just had my first experience with Freedom and I must say, I am impressed and will use them whenever possible...they meant business when they said next business day..most doctors give you your prescription orders days in advance, so if I had a choice, I'd go with Freedom..good luck and sorry that happened!

Yea they are so quick and did you know they are based in Massachusetts?! When I heard that, I was SHOCKED when they told me I would have my injections by the next day!!!

Re: Kraupners - seriously???
I hate Kraupners too. It is because of them that my inlaws found out that we were doing IVF. I asked them to deliver the drugs in an unmarked package since my inlaws were at my house babysitting when it would arrive. they delivered it with receipts stapled to the outside of the bag with the name of every drug inside the bag. They may as well have just put a sign on the bag saying "IVF DRUGS". They are just so insensitive and I found that many of the people that worked there were morons.

Re: Kraupners - seriously???
Thanks for all the responses!!! So great to hear that so many people love Freedom.
I asked the doc to pull my scripts from Kraupners and send them to Freedom today. Hopefully I won't have any major problems. I will definitely post an update when I get their bill!!

Re: Kraupners - seriously???
If you search on here you will see a bunch of bad Kraupners experiences. But, you can get it same day, so that is the only good thing I can think about them.
I have used Freedom Pharmacy for the past 3 years (yeah 3 yrs). They are terrific. And they don't charge for shipping. If they forget something its out to you for the next day. Everyone that works there is so helpful and they know how to put things through insurance.
Hopefully you can cancel the other and switch.

I had serious issues with Kraupners and I did express my issues with SEVERAL people including the names you listed in your other post. I cried when I found out that my insurance didn't participate with Freedom and I had to go back to using Kraupners. After my BFP, I still needed medication but luckily, I worked wtih my local walgreens and got what I needed from them!!! I'm not going to get into it all. I've posted about it before and so have many others.
I know you are here trying resolve issues but you've been here before and nothing changed.

They SUCK!!! However, if and when you need to use them, the only one who halfway knows what the heck they are doing is a Pharmacy Tech, Annette! Ask for her

Re: Kraupners - seriously???
Ii'm sorry you feel that way about us. If you ever need any info or have to resolve any matter, ask for a pharmacist directly. They will help you right-away...
Understand, we help hundreds of patients successfully everyday. If you're not pleased with the service or have an issue regarding your meds, we're here to help you. But saying that we SUCK is a bit harsh, especially when we are the GO-TO, Same-Day, Free-Delivery pharmacy for many centers throughout the tri-state area.
We work really hard to help everyone...just let us know when you're not satisfied. We'll do the best we can to make you happy. Without our patients, we have nothing and we respect that.
Thank you.

Re: Kraupners - seriously???
Posted by HopingThisIsIt1 I use Kraupners b/c I see Dr B and I just assumed that was the pharmacy he always uses so I never questioned anything.
Ive never had a problem with them.
I saw Dr. B, and went through Freedom for my Ovidrel shot (2 times) If you requst that they use Freedom, they will fax the Rx to them.
I had GREAT experiences with Freedom both times. The first month they shipped to my father's house on a SATURDAY via FedEx overnight and it was there at 11:30 am !!
The second time they shipped to my work, I talked to them at 4pm on Monday and had my shot Tuesday morning BEFORE 10 am !!
and they were MUCH cheaper then Kraupners would have been.
The one experience with Kraupners I had was HORRIBLE. I asked them to please come to the side door (I'm in an upstairs apartment) and TOLD them at least 2 or 3 times to please note it - and she repeated it to me every time I said it. Don't you know - at 12:15 at NIGHT (they were supposed to be there by 11pm) they were knocking on my LANDLORDS DOOR !!!! Thank goodness they have a dog that was barking and I ran downstairs quick. Unfortunatly my landlord was already up and saw what they script was for (just progesterone) but she then knew that we had "issues" and I really didn't want to share that with HER !!!
