Crawling but dragging one leg

DS is 9 months and has been crawling for about a month now. We thought he'd grow out of this but when he crawls, he moves normally with his left leg but kind of drags his right leg underneath him as he moves across the floor. Is this normal or should i let the ped know?

hes been crawling a little over a month now. DS's cousin started out this way too but grew out of it and crawls "normally" now. And DS stands up perfectly fine and can even stand freely for a few seconds on his own so i dont think anythings wrong with his legs.

His next well visit isnt for another month. Should I just tell the ped then? Or call and have him looked at?

DS does something very similar. He always pushes off with one foot. I think it's his signature move Chat Icon Chat Icon I'm not too concerned because like you mentioned, he stands just fine on both legs. If he is still doing it by the time I go to my next ped appt, I will mention it then.

My son was the same. He pushed off with one leg and crawled with the other. Ped said it was normal.

My DS is 11 months old and started out that way also, its called the army crawl. Now he just pushes off on both feet and uses his forearms to crawl. He can crawl "normal" but just prefers this way. I laugh every day at it, dont worry he will grow out of it.

DD does something similar. I'm not concerned, because she alternates legs, so it's not like one is stronger than the other. I think it's fine. You could mention it at your next visit, but if it were ME, I wouldn't make a special appointment for it.

A lot of kids do this. I would mention it next time you go but I don't think it's anything to worry about Chat Icon

Re: Crawling but dragging one leg

DD started crawling last month but uses both feet to push. She basically uses her arms to pull herself around the floor. She stands, pulls herself up and goes into sitting position fine so I am not concerned with her crawling methods. Even though it would be easier if she crawled "normal"

Re: Crawling but dragging one leg

My son crawls like this sometimes and I realized he does it sohe can get to sitting positon easier. Try to observe and see if this is why yours doesit too. I do not worry

Re: Crawling but dragging one leg

DD was the same up until about a month ago (she will be 1 in 2 weeks.) She was stronger in one leg or perhaps had more coordination, but now she is fine. When I brought up my concerns (not getting into sit alone, not crawling, not pulling to a stand) they mentioned to me at the ped. that if she wasn't doing these things by 10.5 months to call them and they would refer me to EI. By 10.5 months she was doing all of the above plus cruising and walking.

You can mention it, but I bet if you give it time all will end up fine.
