Disability & unemployment

My company is closing it's doors friday (bankrupt). I'm freaking out.

I am almost 6 months pregnant so expect to receive unemployment as I can't see anyone hiring me right now. I'm hopeful though :)

BUT I was going to go on disability when I gave birth and do not intend to work for a few months after that. Anyone know how that would work, if it works, or am I SOL when the baby's born? Can I refile for unemployment when I start looking again?

Of course all this assumes they will extend unemployment for new filers if necessary.

I was laid off while I was pregnant.... I stayed on unemployment before and after having the baby. In reality, I kept looking for a job while I was on "maternity" leave. I think the min. was I had to have 2 job contacts a week - that is easy to do. And this economy, it could very well take that long for you to get a job.

I would not go on disability. Stay on unemployment and continue to "look."
