does any one know about how long it takes for STAR to kick in on your taxes after you apply?

Re: STAR Rebate
It kicks in on the next tax bill.
For example, in Suffolk County you had to file your application no later than March 1, 2010. You will notice the STAR adjustment on your 2010/11 tax bill which covers the period December 1, 2010 through November 30, 2011. The tax 2010/11 tax bill is issued on or about December 1, 2010.
If you just closed on your house, you won't be able to file until NEXT March 1 (2011) and you won't see a STAR exemption on your bill until the 2011/12 tax year.

Re: STAR Rebate
I just closed on my house in Suffolk and spoke with the county on the phone. They told me to fill out the forms and submit them now. Not sure when it takes effect though....

Re: STAR Rebate
Jan 2012...
Technically if you just brought recently, you are applying by 3/11 deadline which will take effect 1/12
