IVF #2- My journal-**RETRIEVAL UPDATE!

History: PCOS and Dh's morphology is a little off

IVF #1- BFN
FET#1- DC

FET#2- defrosted our 3 remaining embies and only one made it- BFN

Started BCPs immediately after to continue on with this IVF. RE changed up protocol since I didnt get PG with my first fresh IVF. This time we will do Lupron and Follistim instead of Menopur and ganerelix.

I am also taking 2000mg of metformin a day.

7/6- started BCP
7/16- start Lupron 20 units daily
7/22-Last BCP continue Lupron
7/25-
Monitoring this am. went in for blood and sono. DH also went in for a repeat SA to make sure his swimmers are still good (his last one was 3 years ago when we started trying for DC).

Nurse says I should get a bleed very soon (she thought today even).

Instructions are to start stims:
225 units of follistim in pen
1 dexamethazone pill
Continue 20 units Lupron

I go in Thursday for more monitoring.

7/29
Had blood and sono this am. Lots of eggs growing. She counted at least 12 with more that she didn't measure and they were all around a 9. This is after just 4 days of stims. She said to make sure to drink plenty of liquids and that things look good. AF is still hanging around, so lining is at a 3.

Instructions are for today and tomorrow:
Lower follistim to 150 units
Continue 20 units lupron
Continue dexamethasone

I hope the lowering of the meds isnt an indication of something being wrong. I am hoping they just want to be careful not to overstim me.

I go back Saturday....


7/31
Went in for blood and sono this am. They could not find my veins UGHHH. They stuck me twice with two different people trying and then I said I needed a break so they did my sono.

The little side monitor was broken so I couldnt see but it took her a long time to count and measure them and said "there's A LOT" there. I'm really worried about hyperstimming because I already feel uncomfy and bloated, but no one seems concerned so I guess my levels are ok.

Then went back and the actual nurse was able to get my vein. My poor arms though!!! I am going to have to avoid my mom this week so she doesnt question it.

Instructions:
Continue 150 units of Follistim
20 units Lupron
1 dexamethasone

Return Monday!

8/2

Um wow... I have a TON of eggs. At least 18 on one side and 20 on the other. The nurses were saying they havent seen someone stim so well in a long time. My ovaries are actually touching...they took pics of it on the sono screen cause it was so "cool".

She isnt *too* concerned about hyperstim yet because my levels look ok and I dont have fluid around my ovaries/uterus. I am not allowed to lift heavy things(that should be interesting with my DC) or jump around too much and she said to drink lots. She thinks I will trigger tonight or tomorrow, so I will update when I get the call in a little bit.

I am wondering since I have so many eggs if they will push me to a 5 day transfer. Anyone go to LIIVF and get pushed to a 5 day?

Oh and I forgot to add my lining was a 10 and she said looked great with a "triple pattern" :)

ETA instructions:
Decrease Follistim to 100 units
Continue 20 units Lupron
Continue Dexamethasone
Return tomorrow for b/w and sono

So it looks like I will be triggering tomorrow night if all looks good in the am!

Tomorrow I go in just for blood work and instructions.

Retrieval will be Thurs at noon!!!!!

Please for no OHSS, a smooth retrieval and some excellent embies!

Well I am BUMMED! They only got 13 eggs after all that. Apparently there were a lot in there that were not mature. I dont get why they would trigger me if they werent all ready to go and the right size???

I asked about the 13 they DID get and she said they wont know if those were all mature till tomorrow when they call me with the fert report. Im really kinda sad, because I just feel like it is always something. I want things to go right for once. They counted almost 40 follies and I got 13 out of that!?!?

Im also in a little bit of pain, which I do not remember from last time. Im crampy and cranky. Greaaatttt!

8/6- Fert report.
I dont even know what to do with myself.

Out of my 13 eggs only 3 fertilized.

Transfer Sunday.

Those of you that fmed me for meds...it seems that I posted a little too soon, so I will need to hnag on to them for a while. I was expecting a ton of eggs and many to freeze.

We will put all three back IF they even make it.

I am so sad.

Good luck with everything!!!! I will be starting my first IVF cycle soon and will be starting off with Lupron in 2 weeks!

My meds went down pretty much everytime i went also so dont over think it.

Sounds like you responded really well! My ovaries were also "kissing" at the end of my stimming. They retrieved 21 follicles! I was with Dr. Brenner at LIIVF. I was pushed to a Day 5 transfer. I believe they will push it if you have at least 7 embies that look good on Day 3. Good luck!!
