Spotting at 21 weeks? UPDATE**MORE TO UPDATE**

Could this be serious enough to go to the L&D at the hospital? My Dr.'s office is closed. He gave me that option or sit with feet up and relax.....did he forget I have a 16 month old running the roost?!!!

Anyway, I feel the baby and all. I am crampy, but thats nothing knew.

WWTD?

UPDATE:

I went at 8pm....after I took my DS to his ped. appointment for a fever that he had for two days. He is fine...no ear infections which I thought.

Turns out, I had Cervicitis, an irritation from intercourse. While they did an internal sonogram to check the length of my cervix (which is perfect), they noticed something strange with my placenta. I was released at 10:30pm and told to see my OB in the morning. This morning I went and he confirmed the "something wrong" with the placenta..."a piece is hanging"....not sure what this means, but he wasn't too alarmed. I am to see him in one week and NO SEX.... but thats ok with me....Chat Icon

Thanks for all your advice, I am glad I went to the hospital!!

2nd UPDATE (follow up with OB - TEST RESULTS)

So, this afternoon I went back for a follow up and got the results of the culture. I happened to test positive for GBH ( I think otherwise known as Strep B). All pregnant women are tested for this at 35 weeks...I feel lucky enough to know now. The Dr. put me on a antibiotic just to make sure I do not go into pre-term labor. Even though my culture at 35 weeks may (and should) come back negative, I still need to inform the nurses when I go into labor that I did test positive. I will be given antibiotics and will always have this GBH forever. I am a little frazzeled why I didn't test positive with DS#1 Chat Icon The Dr. said I am lucky not to have passed it onto him during delivery. Also, I am not that upset, I feel grateful for having a great doctor and medical insurance.

I would probably really think about going to L&D, just in case. Especially, since sitting with your feet up probably isn't a reality for you!

You are sooo right - I just sat down since the last time I posted and my DS was climbing and jumping all over me. It's just not happening. I have to take him to the ped. at 6:45pm for a fever that he has had for 2 days, then I'll bring him to my MIL, and take myself - DH has to work!

Does your OB have a hotline where you can speak to someone?

It sounds like you have a low lying placenta.
