Re: Gyno asking when you have children
my gyno doesn't ask every time, but after I got married I gave him an idea of when I wanted to start trying. He was like, "oh mid-thirties is a great time to start having kids...but don't wait too long though. You don't want to be old parents."
Sounds just like my family...so frustrating!

Re: Gyno asking when you have children
When I started seeing my current gyno, she and I sat in her office and I asked a bunch of questions, and she went over my history.
One of my questions was "at what age can I have my tubes tied?" and she didn't laugh or react strangely to the question.
That's why I'm still with her. She never freakin' asks me about kiddos.

What was the answer? I always wonder if they would do it for someone under 40 that didn't have any kids.

Re: Gyno asking when you have children
this subject has come up before; my gyn doesn't ask either but i've been with her forever so she knows me.
But my friend went to a new gyn and she asked her how old she is (34 and single) and what is she waiting for....

Re: Gyno asking when you have children
I was recently in the hospital for a few days- EVERY Dr. in the ER and on the floor I mentioned 'having a healthy pregnacy'. I never mentioned having children and it annoyed me too.

Re: Gyno asking when you have children
I went to a new gyn a few months ago. I was asking about an IUD and she asked if/when I planned on having kids. When I told her I didn't at all, ever, she asked why. I thought it wasn't really any of her business.

She told me thirty would be the minimum age.
I don't think I'd do it - not yet, anyway; even though we're pretty sure that we don't want kiddos, I don't think I'd be ready for a permanent procedure like that - but it was the way she reacted that I loved. There was no "are you sure?" "you never know!" or any comments like that.
