Any ideas for some lesson for intro to the 6thgrade cirriculum.Geography maybe?

Def. geography. I do geography with my high school kids and they have a hard time with some of it.

I started with geography as well. Had them make the foldables, which they loved (I think all kids love to draw / color). The sheet I set up was folded in half / they had to find 5 words (I sometimes assigned them by table). On the front it was divided into 5 groups then divided in the box. They would write the word and draw a small illustration. When you open it up on the left you had the definition and the right you had a sentence. The kids loved doing this.

For an end project on Geography I divided the kids into groups. They each had to make their own imaginary maps (including continents, countries, etc). The kids were really creative...I had one group do Spongebob world, Candy World etc. I got 5 large posters from it and they looked great hanging up in the room.
