What to pack for lunch?
So DS is starting pre-k next week and will be going 3 full days so he needs a lunch. Any suggestions? They are not a peanut free school so they usually sit the kids with allergies at one table together and if anyone has PB&J at another table. What else can I give? I was thinking cream cheese and jelly sandwich, chicken nuggets but how do you keep them warm and how do you send ketchup? Mac & cheese, again is a thermos going to keep it warm?

Re: What to pack for lunch?
bagels with cream cheese
cheese sandwich...I grill it in the morning (grilled cheese) and it still tastes good and ham sandwiches
staples has these containers that you could freeze the top part and it keeps the contents cold...kind of like tupperware with a built in freezer pack...I also bought the boo boo ice packs because they are the perfect size to keep the stuff cold
as for ketchup i guess you could always stock up at McDonalds for the packets!

Re: What to pack for lunch?
My DD is also starting Pre-K and will do lunch 3 days a week! It's tougher for me since my kids love PBJ and their school is peanut free! So my DS always took a jelly sandwich or bought a lunch at the school. I am not even sure they give the pre-K the option of buying at school, so I know I will have to pack for DD.
They love turkey and ham, so I do sandwiches, but only make them a 1/2 since it can be dry and they don't love it. I have also sent in the cold cuts rolled up with a side of Ritz crackers and a cheese stick.
A good Thermos is great for keep mac and cheese hot or something cold. My kids love yogurt, so I send that in a lot. I wrap hot nuggets in foil and that seems to be ok for them.
I freeze little containers of the flavored apple sauces and they love that they feel like they are eating an Italian ice.

Re: What to pack for lunch?
So far for DD we have worked out:
-Cheese sandwhiches -Cheese & turkey sandwhich -Bagels & cream cheese/margerine -cottage cheese cup & fruit (apples, banas, grapes) -possibly hardboiled eggs
She has an insulated lunch bag & we have Disney Princess icepacks, so that should keep everything cold. As far as keeping things warm, that I'm unsure of. She's going to kindergarten so the option to buy warm lunch is there. She'll be doing that once or twice a week when they have nuggets, pizza, or mac & cheese. The other days she'll bring something mentioned above.

Re: What to pack for lunch?
DD is a picky eater so for the most part her lunch is cheese and crackers or a PB&J sandwich with yogurt and a cookie.

Re: What to pack for lunch?
I used the thermos for mac and cheese, plain macaroni with butter, Amy's pizza snacks (these are expensive IMO but always a big hit with my kids), soup (not too much broth but something like veggie minestrone) and cut up cheese quesadillas.
Otherwise, I've also just done jelly or cream cheese sandwiches, american cheese sandwich, cold cuts (I try to stay away from too much cold cuts though).
Then, I will always throw in baby carrots, cut up red peppers, fruit, yogurt, etc.

Re: What to pack for lunch?
Before DS became SUPER picky he liked hummus so I'd give him hummus sandwiches, cream cheese and jelly, just jelly, cheese sandwich. Hmmmm what else?
