Feeding ducks bread
What is the verdict on this? I heard once that is wasn't healthy for them. I want to take DD down to the pond today and I thought it would be cute if we fed the ducks, but I don't want to if it is not good for them.
eta - i did some reasearch and found that there were better alternatives to bread:
•Grapes cut in half •Cracked corn, barley, oats, birdseed or other grains •Frozen peas that have been defrosted •Duck feed pellets available from farm supply stores
It seems bread is too fattening for the birds which can lead to other problems.

Re: Feeding ducks bread
Actually feeding them anything really isn't a good idea. They poop where people scatter the food, and that can spread disease through the duck population. Some foods are not good for their digestion either. Then there are other foods that people throw in the water for the ducks that are harmful to other animals that live in the water.
