Maternity Leave
If you are currently working and decided to be a SAHM when your LO is born. What did you tell your job?
Did you fill out the paperwork as if you were coming back? If so when do you tell them your not?
OR Did you just tell work that you wont be coming back after your LO is born.

with #1 I told them I was coming back and after my leave financially I needed to go back so I did with this one I can't go back since I will have 2 almost a year apart babysitting would be impossible so I will probably tell them I am coming back then before I am due to return I will tell them I am not going to return.

i think it all depends if your company will pay you when you are on leave
mine only pays you half for this reason - you need to come back for 6 months after to get your full pay

i think it depends on the company and the relationship you wish to have with them after you leave. IMO, i wouldn't feel right not telling them upfront what my intentions are, but i can 100% see how others would.
ETA: I also work for colleges/universities, and it's a small enough field where future employers can easily find out info about you.

yes - most of the ladies who left my job didnt intend to when they left - they jsut didnt want to be away from their LO and made it work
i dont think i can just act like i wasnt leaving

If you're getting paid for maternity leave, wait until after your leave is up before you tell them that you won't be coming back. DONT let them know what your intentions are upfront, or else they might not want to pay you for your leave!

I waited until after DS was born. I wasn't 100% sure what I was going to do when I went out on maternity leave, I had a really good idea that I was going to be a SAHM, but not 100% sure. I went in and spoke with the VP before I was supposed to come back and he understood.
I now have a business out of the house and old employer is one of my clients, so they didn't have a problem with me not telling them until the end.
