A little worried re: breech; growth sono update
So the appt overall went great; baby is, dare I say, totally adorable, has a full head of hair and weighs approx 4 lbs, 1 oz! The tech said she'll probably weigh 7 and change at birth. However, she is high and really breech; her head is near my belly button and her legs and feet down by my cervix. I hope she turns but the tech worried me because she said this "late in the game" sometimes they don't. I'm 31 weeks. I know that if I have to have a C, I have to have a C, but I want to push her out and have a vaginal birth if I can help it. I just left a message for my doc to see what she thinks. Any advice? I see my doc next week. Meantime I'm doing tons of yoga and I wonder if something I'm doing is keeping her there....the bright spot is the tech mentioned she seemed to have a lot of room still and my skin wasn't stretched.

Re: A little worried re: breech; growth sono update
I have the same issue at 36 weeks... is trying so hard to flip and it hurts as he does so..my stomach aches all day :( At this point I have friends telling me stories of their babies flipping days before birth so I am being hopeful. My due date is 11/25 so at the my next appt if he is still breech my doc is gonna schedule a c for after 11/18 and then we wait...either go ahead with the c or he flips at the last moment and we wait for a natural birth. Good luck!

Re: A little worried re: breech; growth sono update
I am sorry I don't know anything about the whole breech situation. Seems like my baby is ready to go in position and really low.
But I did want to ask you if the tech mentioned the baby being big? When I went baby was 3lbs 130z and that was the 70th percentile and they said that it would probably be a big baby, but hearing you say they told you the baby would be around 7lbs confuses me.
They probably have no clue and just throw numbers out there LOL

she actually said the baby would be a nice size and not be a big baby; who knows!

So strange, either way, its nice to know that our babies are probably normal since we both were just a few oz apart. Enjoy the last few weeks

it's also just an approximation; i know plenty of moms where the weight at birth was pretty off from the growth sono. she just said, nice size, should be a great-sized baby and she made a point of saying not "big."

Re: A little worried re: breech; growth sono update
My brother was a week late and in breech and my mother was scheduled for a c-section. She was in the hospital and everything looked good at night. The morning of the C, the doctor looked at my mom's stomach and was like, umm, something looks different. He checked and saw that my brother had flipped somewhere in the middle of the night. My brother was born naturally one week later at 11lbs 6 oz. If he could flip, ANY kid has the potential to flip.

Re: A little worried re: breech; growth sono update
I was breech with DD and she turned around 36 or 37 weeks. As long as there is room in your belly for her to turn she still can.

Re: A little worried re: breech; growth sono update
My DS was breech around that time and never turned, but there were two in there so there wasn't much room. I think you still have time for the baby to turn. Believe it or not, I've heard that playing music "down there" has been successful. Could be an old wives tale, but its worth a shot.

Re: A little worried re: breech; growth sono update
My DD didn't turn until I was 36 weeks. My Dr.wasn't concerned at prior sonos that she was breech.
My DS however was head down from 20 weeks!
ETA: I was told my DD was going to be an 8lb+ baby and she was born 6lbs 11oz

Re: A little worried re: breech; growth sono update
very common for babies to be breech at 31 weeks, there is still room for them to move around
DS was breech then transverse at 34 weeks and turned by 37! At 37, we he estimated 7.5 lbs so he was bigger, still turned
there is still time, lots!!

Re: A little worried re: breech; growth sono update
there is still lots of time for your LO to turn. .
I would say from a yoga perspective there is probably little that you are doing that would be holding the baby there. . .only exception would be is if you are still doing deep twists constantly . .(and i do mean a lot)
inversions are actually supposed to be wonderful to help move breech babies as long as you are safe and supported and still comfortable with your balance. . (you may know all this already as you're a teacher but just wanted to respond)
I would stress yet either - that tech says "this late in the game" but you have plenty of time!

Re: A little worried re: breech; growth sono update
same thing was happening to me...at my high risk 34 week sono, he was breech, 2 days later, I had another sono with ob and he flipped...if they dont flip by week 36 or so, they may suggest a manipulation or csection. You still have a few weeks for you LO to flip...dont worry yet. BTW, I had another sono yesterday and he is still head down, so hopefully he will stay that way!
