Got SA Results with Some Questions for You!
Hey everyone! I finally got SA results today. The doctor said that there was just a slight abnormality but it wasn't major and he didnt think it would really impact my chances. I didnt really ask for specifics.
We made a appointment for me to come in before I get AF to do some bloodwork on me to test my hormones.
I told him that AF came 1 day early for 3 cycles in a row and 3 days early last cycle. He didnt think that was a big deal either but it could possibly be a factor.
He also mentioned starting Clomid during my next cycle.
I guess he would start Clomid based on my bloodwork? Not really too sure. I had people over when he called so I was so distracted.
I know some of you have had experience with Clomid.
I dont have any issues that I know of and am very regular.
Please let me know what you think of Clomid? Is this usually given if there are no known issues?

Clomid is used to induce ovulation in women who don't ovulate. If your doctor has no reason to believe you're not ovulating I don't see he would suggest it.

I would ask him exactly what his reasons for wanting you to go on clomid were. But honestly, if I were you would just find a new doctor. Are you seeing an RE or is this just your OBGYN?

I regularly ovulate and was put on Clomid (by an RE) for the few cycles that I did IUI. I believe the thinking is that since it will likely cause you to produce more eggs, you'll have a better chance of conceiving (didn't work for me, though!).

It is my regular OB, not an RE. I will ask him for more specifics when I go to the appt in 2 weeks.
Do you know anyone that took Clomid without O issues that did get PG quickly?
Hopefully I will get a BFP and wont need to do this anyway!!

I have a friend who had no known issues, but when she went to her OB-GYN and stated her desire to get pregnant, the doc put her on Clomid right away. Clomid is a medicine that helps you ovulate if you don't naturally produce the right balance of hormones to do so. This woman did not have that issue.
However, she got pg twice this way pretty quickly each time and has 2 healthy kids now. Did the Clomid help or not? No way to know. But she's happy the way everything worked out.

We were diagnosed with unexplained infertility by my OB/GYN after my husband had a SA and everything was fine. and I had an HSG and CD 7 blood work to check progesterine levels. I had set up an appointment with a RE but my OB/GYN gave me a script for Clomid. I didn't want to bother trying it because all my tests were normal and I was ovulating every month. He told me that it would "boost" ovulation....well it worked. I was on Clomid for 1 month and got pregnant that same month.

if you ovulate regularly clomid may help you produce more eggs thus upping your chances. if your DH has some slight sperm issues, the extra egg could give you a better chance at having at least one fertilize.
IMO if i didnt NEED fertility meds i probably wouldnt have taken them. especially clomid cause it has nasty side effects like thinning the uterine lining. but thats just my own personal opinion.

I was prescribed clomid because I do not ovulate on my own..if u r regular I don't see why a doc would put u on..maybe it will increase the chances of sperm getting to extra eggs??...but with all th side effects...incvrease chance of miscarriage and ectopic plus the fact it thins ur uterus lining I don't get if u don't need it why be on it...
I hate hate the fact that I need to be on it and wish I didn't...now in saying all this. I'm no doctor...I'm sure there is a reason but I would def ask ur doc before u take it

Thank you everyone for your responses. I am glad you are all being so honest so I will have a good list of questions to bring to my appointment. I am also glad to hear that you know someone who got PG right away when starting Clomid. I know that doesnt happen to everyone but you never know!!

I also have a regular cycle and ovulate every month. My RE recommended clomid with IUI for the same reason ( to increarse the amount of eggs). We are dealing with MF infertility and two miscarriages. This is my second cycle on clomid and I hoping it will work.

I have a bit of dizziness sometimes but nothing too crazy. I'm on day 4 of it so just today and tomorrow to go.

Actually, no, its not just used for that.. it's used to increase the number of eggs you can produce each cycle. It's often given to women who ovulate on their own. The thinking is that it increases the number of eggs, therefore the more chances you have to get pregnant.
eta: i was on Clomid for several cycles and didn't have bad side effects, just got really hot at night.
To the OP, if your dr is suggesting Clomid, at this point i would go see an RE instead of an OB/GYN - that way you'll get the monitoring and treatment from someone who's specialty is in treating fertility issues and you're not wasting any time.
