Starting Clomid - question about side effects
After months of waiting for it, I was finally given the "all clear" to start Clomid today.
I'm a little nervous though - my RE said that if I normally get moody around PMS time, I might be really moody on Clomid. DH went pretty pale when he heard that. But seriously, is there anything I can do to minimize side effects? Did you notice a difference taking it with food / empty stomach / at night / morning / stuff like that? I'd love to hear your experiences. Thanks!

Re: Starting Clomid - question about side effects
I got really scared the first time I was prescribed it, for the saem reason you mentioned. PMS makes me a little off, or how DH likes to put it evil! But honestly I actually got better during while taking Clomid so no mood swings. My cycles got regular immediately, went from 40-45 to 31 days. Around O time I had an occassional headache but was not strong enough to need meds, my skin became sensitive to the touch and some hot flashes. They sound worse then what they really were.
Hope this helps and hopefully you will breeze right through it without any major side effects. Good luck!

Re: Starting Clomid - question about side effects
Thanks for the info! I forgot about the hot flashes - I read somewhere that they're the most common side effect, along with headaches and blurred vision. Blurred vision? The things we women go through! All DH has to do is have happy time with a plastic cup every once in a while and we have to endure all this nonsense. It's not fair.

hot flashes was the only thing i can think of. i take it before bed, it helps sleep through the flashes. Nothing else that is major. GL!

Me too! I had hot flashes, but I took it at night too. A bit bloated and moody but nothing I couldn't handle. On the other hand DH might sing a different song about the moodiness
We tried it for 3 months and it didn't work for us...good luck to you

Re: Starting Clomid - question about side effects
I sometimes had some "trails" in my vision, hot flashes and slight headache, but I found that taking it at night really minimized all of that...good luck !!

Re: Starting Clomid - question about side effects
Take it at night. It helped so much with the hot flashes. Also I had very painful ovulations with it. I thought my appendix had burst, I even went to the hospital. It was just the drug doing its job. Makes cysts and larger stronger eggs. It worked for me. Preggo by month 3 at 100 mgs. Wish you lots of luck and good vibes.

Re: Starting Clomid - question about side effects
I always took clomid in the morning on an empty stomach just because it was easier to remember to take it before I began my day.
My side effects were hot flashes and the occasional mood swing! Poor DH!

Re: Starting Clomid - question about side effects
Thank you guys for sharing your experiences. After all this time waiting to try Clomid, I find that I'm really nervous about it now. It helps to know what to expect.

i took clomid at night. i think i had MINOR hot flashes and a minor headache. i found the side effects worse from femara than clomid. clomid itself was no big deal. good luck!!

I could not have said it better myself. Like the other women said taking it at night helps reduce the side effects. Good luck!!!!!

Re: Starting Clomid - question about side effects
Okay, I took the first dose last night at about 10. This morning at 9 or 10:00 I had a headache and was kind of dizzy. I think it was from the medicine? Not sure. It went away with one Advil so it wasn't terrible. Other than that, so far, so good...
