I have never heard of this. What does she want you to wear black? and lets be real, the bride will be in white, everything is brighter than that. Women wore red to my wedding and I didnt even think twice about it. Go for it!!

I always wear Red. DH said that after we went to on our first date that when ever I wear red he thinks of that song lady in red. So ever since then I wear red to almost every event I can.

In my parent's wedding album there is a photo of a woman who was a former Miss Universe and she wore a red dress that was cut so low you could almost see her navel and slit so high you almost did not have to wonder what kind of underwear she was wearing. My mom said that EVERYONE had all eyes on this woman and she felt like it stole the show. Seeing that dress always made me think that one should not wear red to a wedding. I think wine, cranberry or any other pink are perfectly fine, but lipstick red no, I would not wear it.
Lol to me this means you shouldn't wear a hookers dress to a wedding.... If It was in black would that have been more tasteful I swear I am not trying to be a b * tch but this made me think of when I was a kid and my grandmother's boyfriend had a pick taken with a girl in teeny tiny red dress, and she said "(BAD WORD) in red." and I thought (So if she was wearing blue she wouldn't be a "BAD WORD"?)

I would if I wanted a red dress. I saw someone wear bright red to a funeral once, thought u were not soppose to do that? who knows.
I had a snowball wedding-my bridesmaids were all in white.
I truthfully would not remember if a guest wore white to my wedding or red, I would be too excited to even realize.
I say go for it.

Sure... UNLESS the bride/groom were Chinese. Chinese brides wear red, so I feel like it would be the same thing as wearing white to an American wedding.

There is nothing wrong with wearing red to a wedding. I have done this many times. This is really one of the stupidest things I have ever heard and like one of the other posters said almost every color is brighter than white!!!!!

You can absolutely wear red to a wedding. The only time I wouldn't wear a specific color to a wedding was if I knew that was the color of the bridesmaids dresses. & of course I would never wear white or ivory.

Red is much more noticeable to the human eye than other colors like yellow or white. I learned then when I learned about the lights on emergency vehicles.

I'll just say this... She really stands out in the pictures. But that was her intent after all.
eta: Sunday afternoon wedding, well aware my family were wearing all floral prints or colors at my request, because I always wanted a "garden" wedding. 
If it makes you feel any better, my MIL wore white to my wedding. I was just looking thru her pics on facebook and someone commented "which one is the bride?!"
If it makes either of YOU feel better, my Chinese mother in law wore a RED CHINESE WEDDING DRESS to MY WEDDING! It is a good thing I love my husband so much...

I probably wouldn't. I think it's in bad taste, at least where I come from.
Although people did wear red to my wedding and I must say I didn't really think it was that big a deal, but my sister and other female members of the family commented on that and said it was rude to do that...

Of course! Unless the BP was wearing red and then I wouldn't wear that color. I have never heard you're not supposed to wear red to a wedding.
