I had to stop watching the show...I would have put my shoe through the tv...What are people thinking to air shows like that...Just makes a teenager want to get preggo so they can be on tv....

Re: 16 and pregnant! im sick to my stomach!
WHY is this even a show? i don't get it and i don't watch it. someone who is 16 and pregnant should not be getting THAT type of attention-i don't agree with it at all.

Re: 16 and pregnant! im sick to my stomach!
I saw the episode where a friend asked, "Are you going to circumsize the baby?"
and her friend said, "Yeah, I would...but I'm having a girl."
and the friend looked super dumb & didn't get it right away.

I think it's to deter kids from kidding pregnant and for guys to get scared.
I watch it and it scares ME from having sex..and I'm an adult and married.

yeah i know, i agree. i didn't know though how truly scary and difficult being a mom was (at times!) or what a TREMENDOUS honor and responsibility it is until i became one...and i'm just not sure young girls really understand that just by watching it...i guess i really have to watch it to see..

Yeah, that was nuts! And not for nothing, but her boyfriend had his act together and was horrified. However, I will say this, they both seemed like (other than that) they were doing really well with the baby and working together to make it work. I think that's a good thing

This! I'm petrified of having children due to this show. but then I remember I have my HS Diploma and DH has a full time job
All joking aside I feel MTV does not glorify pregnancy on this show. Basically this show tells a girl if you have a kid the following things will probably happen to you:
-You will not graduate/get your intended G.E.D. - You'll do this alone - Your baby daddy won't stay or participate - You'll have to work 2 jobs to get an apartment, buy groceries, etc
I haven't seen this weeks episode yet. Now I'm not so sure I want to.

Re: 16 and pregnant! im sick to my stomach!
There are plenty of teenage girls I know that have come right out and said they would get pregnant just to be on the show. Nothing is ever going to stop teenage pregnancy. And putting it on tv is not a good thing..

But I will also get to be on MTV and on the cover of US and People, blah blah ...
I really don't get why people watch these shows.

Re: 16 and pregnant! im sick to my stomach!
I watched last night but I totally missed the horse. What happened?
In terms of glorifying teen pregnancy, I just don't see it. I think every episode presents a horrifying situation. I don't know how you could watch it and think otherwise. In fact, many young people have told me that the show has SCARED the crap out of them.

She was trying to ride a horse with her newborn in a Baby Bjorn sort of deal. Up until that point I actually thought that they were reasonable people...

She put the baby in a Bjorn and tried to go riding with him! He was barely a month old! I was freaking out when I saw it...and her dad was standing right there helping her onto the horse!!!

I freaked out when one girl had her baby on a bare mattress and then washed his bottles in the bathroom sink LOL

Re: 16 and pregnant! im sick to my stomach!
my stomach actually hurt watching it, I thought I was going to puke every time the horse jerked.
She rode a lot before she was pg, THE ENTIRE TIME SHE WAS PG, and then when the baby was a month old went on with the bjorn and the horse was not happy. She couldn't control it, it kept trying to buck her and jump a bit and she couldn't even direct it where to go. Just her getting propped onto the horse was a disturbing sight because the baby got squished a bit!

Re: 16 and pregnant! im sick to my stomach!
I watch the show and I don't know why everyone thinks MTV is glorifying anything. They present a pretty dismal picture of being a teen mom and the point of the show is to deter girls from getting pregnant, not encourage it.
And the reality is, if some stupid a$$ teenager intentionally got pregnant to try and be on the show let's face it, that moron probably would've been knocked up regardless of this show being on MTV. That is just sheer stupidity. Any halfway intelligent teenager with a clue would not watch this show and think, "Hey! What a great idea this would be!!". When I was 16 and sexually active the last thing I would want is to get pregnant and if I had seen this show back in the day it would've scared the crap out of me, NOT motivate me to go out and get pregnant.
The majority of the people out there will take the right message away from this show while there will always be a small percentage of idiots who get the wrong idea. It's true of anything in the world. Honestly, to not talk about something or highlight an issue for fear of giving someone the wrong idea is just silly. And whether you choose to believe it or not, *most* kids/teens are getting a lot, if not all, of their information from their friends, social media, and TV so kudos to MTV for highlighting and talking about an issue that is so important.
