VBAC friendly OB

Can anyone please recommend a VBAC friendly OB in Nassau Cty or Qns? I have searched endlessly on the internet and through previous posts here with no luck at all.

I know people have had VBACs at Winthrop in the past, but the NYS Dept of Health website shows they only did ONE last year. So, please any recs for OBs who you have VBAC'ed with recently? Thanks so much!!!

Re: VBAC friendly OB

I go to Rockville Centre OBGYN, its Dr. Blinderman and King and 3 midwives. I had a c/s with DD1 and when I was pregnant again they asked me if I wanted to attempt a VB and I said no wayyyyyy! I think much of it depends why you had a c/s the first time around. For me, sydney was measuring very large and 3 days before my due date my blood pressure was rising. They didnt want to take a chance inducing due to her size and honestly I didnt either. Good thing because she was 9.10!!!!!

Re: VBAC friendly OB

The doctors I used are VBAC friendly - Preferred Women Health or something like that - Dr. Oppenheim, Dr. Marchbein and Dr. Prince (there are a few others too - I think). I wasn't thrilled with my experience, but they are willing to do VBACs. I'm also looking for a VBAC friendly doctor, but for me, I want one that is willing to wait beyond my due date - that practice is not willing. I may go with a midwife practice - which at least lessens some of your chances of a repeat c-section.

I had a horrendous experience with them during my first labor & delivery, including an unnecessary C section. They were fairly clear that they almost never (and I wonder if ever) do VBACs. It's almost offensive that they told someone that they will do one just to keep a patient, when they really won't.

I also had a horrendous experience - which is why I won't use them, but I did ask at my 6-week check-up if I could have a VBAC. They said they would do one, but I probably wouldn't be a good candidate (maybe I misunderstood?). And they wouldn't go past my due date (not that it really matters - as again, I personally wouldn't go back to them).

Thanks. I PMed her. I scheduled a consultation with Dr. Byrne already, as I've heard he is VBAC friendly, but he is only delivering at Winthrop now and the staff got really quiet and weird ("uh, uh, uh") when I mentioned I was trying for a VBAC. <sigh>

Yup...that's how they field the question, rather than just saying they won't do it. I had gotten that response too and in a later postnatal visit, while discussing a second pregnancy and VBAC came up (told me there's no chance if I get pregnant too soon), I said "but you don't do VBACs anyway" and she just looked down at the floor.

Re: VBAC friendly OB

Let me know if you have any luck finding a good practice. I'm slightly obsessed with finding someone willing to do a VBAC, even though I'm not pregnant (and probably won't be for a year or so). A friend mentioned Dr. Rifkin in Great Neck - that he is willing to do VBACs. There's also Giai midwives - they do VBACs.

Coincidentally, this is the practice I ended up choosing, although Dr. Sadaty is my primary OB. She seems very VBAC friendly...at least willing to let me go into labor and see how it goes. She doesn't think my chances are great, since I "failed to progress" with my first, but I feel like she's very open to trying. That said, I don't think she'll be nearly as patient if my labor slows as a midwife would be.
