Donating baby items?
Any of you girls know where I could donate a bassinet that's in great condition? I know a lot of places won't take them because of liability, but it kills me to toss it knowing someone could potentially use it.
It's similar to this one but in green and I have a crapload of bassinet sheets to go with it.

Re: Donating baby items?
have you checked with the local church. Our church usually will take items to pass to needy families that they know.

I donate to our local church, or post on the LIF parenting board! I'm sure someone would love that!

Contact Queen of Martyrs RC Church in Centerport. They have an annual baby equipment/toy sale every fall... while it's too late for that, I believe one of the nuns from the parish does outreach to needy moms in the area.

Re: Donating baby items?
Long Island Life Center in Deer Park, on Deer Park Ave. An amazing place. They donate to the needy. And they donate well. I went there during hard times when my daughter was under a year, and they gave me beautiful things in like new condition. Some things were actually new. I donated back to them. I also have two bassinets from my twins in almost like new condition...I'm either going to donate to them, or i'll contact Huntington Head Start to see if there's a pregnant Mom, or Mom with infant that could use them. I'd rather give to someone that needs it, then donate to a place and have them sell it.

Check with your parish Outreach Office. I know ours is always looking for these type of things.

We were going to go there after I posted the question but they were closed and don't reopen until tomorrow (tuesday.)

Re: Donating baby items?
Thank you for the suggestions ladies!
I was going to have my MIL take it to her church (where she used to work), but she didn't think they would take it for the same reasons (liability.)
