Yes, I always do. If my money is helping someone less fortunate than me, great. I didn't know the complete background on them, and will do some more research on them, but when I see someone outside freezing and ringing a bell for those less fortunate i try to give any spare change i have.
Ditto. I let my kids throw the change in the pot. They love it.

Agreed! Not a fan of Salvation Army at all... I also NEVER donate to those who annoy me by ASKING for donations when I am peacefully doing my shopping... call it a weird little policy of mine. I have my own charities that I strongly believe in and those are the ones I donate to.

If i have ones or change I do, but sometimes I just run out with a credit card or large bills.

I give the kids change to put in so they have a sense of what it means to help out other's in need.

I never see them anymore to be honest with you. But there is a Salvation Army near where I live and I do donate clothes there.

Never. Absolutly not.
They have a policy of being anti gay. They have a right to have any policy they want. But I dont have to donate to an organization that discriminates.
ETA: I give money and donate to friends in need and local charity. I have a friend out of work and was not going to have X-mas. I gave them a $100 gift card to a store to get the kids gifts. I also feel that big charity is big business. They spend so much money on fund raising any salary that there is just less to go to the ACTUAL charity. I am sorry I gave any money for Katrina. The lower 9th ward is STILL abandoned.
The money donated, I feel, RARELY gets to where it needs to go. Where did all the Katrina money go????
And Wyclef Jean (sp) was under investigation for using his Haiti Charity money for himself, yet he was INCLUDED in the Haiti telethon.
Because of all of this I donate. But I keep it local to benefit families in the neighborhood I live in.
