Don't be embarassed! I think your body gives you cravings because it's what the baby needs. Maybe you just needed to put on a little extra. I would just say watch your carb intake and make sure you are eating lots of fruits and veggies (eh boring!). But don't be embarassed! It happens! Chat Icon

Re: im so embarassed

i went to the doctor and i'm up 27 pounds at 25 and 1/2 weeks so I'm not too far behind you....it's nothing to be embarassed about but i was a little depressed before....some people just gain more weight than others while pregnant....i just keep telling myself that obviously the baby needs me to gain this weight in order to be healthy (this could be total BS lol but it makes me feel better) Chat Icon we are due around the same time so we could motivate each other to lost the weight afterward

Re: im so embarassed

I am in the same boat. I gained most of my weight (with both of my PG) during the first two trimesters. It did even out a bit at the end. I gained about 45 pounds total and lost 43 before I got PG with #2. I just have the body that if I am PG, I just gain weight.

A lot can be water weight that you are retaining. At my 6 week follow post pregnancy, I was down 37 pounds and that was before working out.

Don't be hard on yourself Chat Icon
My OB always said I could meet with a nutristionist to discuss menu options as a way to keep the weight down.

Re: im so embarassed

yep - I gained about 27 lbs and I am at 25 weeks. I feel disgusting and I wasnt a small girl to begin with. I always struggled with my weight. BUT - I will just work really hard to take it off when the baby is born. My dr. said he isnt concerned about my weight gain. So, I am just dealing with it.

dont be so hard on yourself. i think we can all relate to these feelings of embarrassment and shame, but theyre BS feelings and we shouldnt give in to them. you are pregnant and growing a baby. everything will happen as it is supposed to, so try to enjoy this super cool time in your life and love yourself. it'll come off. Re: im so embarassed

Don't freak!!! I gained weight at a rapid pace too....

Now at 36w 4 d I'm up 49lbs....and guess what-my OB isn't concerned at all..I've done everything RIGHT this entire pregnancy (worked out 4x a week, ate a clean healthy diet, didn't EVER pig out, and STILL gained weight like wildfire).

As he says, some people just gain alot of weight from pregnancy...as long as you maintain a healthy eating plan and stay fairly active you are FINE!!

If you saw me in person (you can kinda tell from my pic though) you would never think I was up so much.

Even last night my OB was like "you won't have any problem losing the baby weight"..

FM me if you ever need support! I've been there, but now that I'm at the end I realize I shouldn't have been so freaked out. Your body is doing what it needs to do to grow your baby!

Also-pretty much ALL of my friends who are BTDT moms gained between 45-60 lbs their pregnancies.....and ALL OF THEM (I swear) were back in pre-pregnancy size in 6 months or less.

Re: im so embarassed

seriously don't worry. I gained quick too! I'm up 30 lbs at about 27 weeks!!!!! I went to the doctor today and only gained 2 lbs. I think everyone gains at different rates. I gained a lot and then it slowed down! And I also don't look like I've gained that much. My ob doesn't even see it from just looking at me! I think women just gain differently and at different rates! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Aw don't feel bad - your body is doing what it needs to do
I am not going to lie I am very very weight conscious(sp) and I gained I think 20 by my 26w appt. However I really now only drink water since then and cut down on the carbs, sweets and salt
I get on my scale at home wvweyday and it has been about 2.5 weeks since my appt and I haven't gained anything
I know you say you are pretty healthy and if you are then I wouldn't worry about it maybe try to increase your water intake and if your dr is not worried then it is ok
Plus if you are gaining healthy weight rather than sitting and eating junk you should be fine with loosing the weight!

Re: im so embarassed

It's not completely controllable. I did everything i could to watch my eright with DD and i gained 60+ but after delivery i lost 50. Even though you are gaining, it will come off. Weight gain is the one con of pregnancy for me.

Re: im so embarassed

dont worry! And dont feel embarrassed!

Gaining weight is part of pregnancy! I gained 50 with my DS and lost it all! (without trying)

Everyone gains differently! I know I gain more in my 2nd half than my first half!
With DS I only gained 1 lb in my first trimester but like I said I went on to gain 50 overall!

This time around I was up 10lbs at 20 weeks, but up 18 lbs by 24 weeks! And trust me I know I have gained quite a bit in these last 2.5 weeks since my last appt!

Dont worry, enjoy your pregnancy and know that its temporary!!!

Re: im so embarassed

Your body knows what its doing! As long as you and your baby are healthy who cares.... Also you look tiny in your picture. Maybe you had to gain some weight. I would say try to eat more veggies and fruit. :) Hang in there!

Eta: sorry I saw the comments above.... maybe its bc you cant work out. I wouldnt worry. When you are in your 30 weeks you may even lose weight ( I did)

This sounds just like me. I started out small (not underweight by any means). I workout 5 days a week and eat healthy. Maybe it's more common with thinner girls. I gained almost 30lbs in 27 weeks! Your body is just doing what it needs to do.

And I've heard that the weight does come off! Everyone I know lost all their pregnancy weight and then some within 6 months of giving birth!

I know how you feel though. Im going through it too! Fm me if you ever want to talk!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: im so embarassed

I'm so confused, I'm 21 +2 right now and I gained 14 lbs, my doctor was really rude about it and told me that I need to watch what I eat! I was so upset and sad because I always eat healthy - just haven't worked out as I usually do, and I do give in for fast, easy snacks and food every now and then when I don't have patience to cook or wait for a meal ;)

Shouldn't you be able to relax and enjoy the food you feel like eating during the pregnancy?

I think it's crazy - just enjoy your pregnancy and eat what you feel like! Chat Icon

Good luck till all of you and your growing babies!

i gained all my weight in trimester 1 and 2 and lost in the 3rd. I also like to retain water as if I were a camel. Those pounds came off easily eafter birth. I also gain/lose 7lbs a month right before my period. Don't worry!
