Urgent Care Centers? *Updated*
I really hate going to doctors, but I think I can't put it off any longer. I've had a constant dull ache on the lower right side of my abdomen for 3 weeks now, and sometimes the pain is so bad, I feel nauseated. The past two days, it's radiated to my back. I have no idea what it is. It doesn't hurt any more or less when I eat, drink, go to the bathroom, work out... it's just always there, more annoying than anything else. Not a sharp pain; it feels more like I'm swollen, somewhere halfway between my back and my stomach.
So my question is: has anyone been to an Urgent Care center anywhere in Eastern Nassau / Western Suffolk? I know my insurance won't cover an emergency room visit since this is not an emergency. I've heard from a friend that an Urgent Care Center she's been to was kind of gross, and I know that if I see that when I show up at one tomorrow, I'll turn right around and put it off again for weeks.
Thanks so much for any advice you might have - I really don't know what to do.

Try STAT Health in Smithtown. Not gross at all and imo great doctor's for an urgent care center.

Just in case anyone does a search on this in the future (as I did last night), I thought I'd update:
I went to First Med Immediate Medical Care in Mineola. I was seen about 25 minutes after I walked in the door, and the doctor was nice and pretty thorough. They were able to do blood and urine cultures on the spot.
I need a bunch of further testing, though. The doc thinks I may have picked up a parasite. He sent stuff out to labs and I'll have more info later this week.

you got fooled in believing firstmed is urgent care. Its a regular old practice faking as urgent care. my caution to you. read and research. else you suffer consequences.

Yes, and I'm sure the OP appreciates your thoughts on her urgent situation. That occurred in 2008. Thank goodness you came to weigh in.
