I do payroll...If I were you I would just stay those extra few minutes so you get paid the full 1/2hr of Hour...

I would def. speak to your boss about it.

Also did you take a break? If not he/she probably took that hour away because you didn't take a break.

Well, the other employee I work with came up at X time and then said, "ok, you can leave" so I couldnt stay those extra minutes to make up the 1/2hr even if I wanted too. Yes, I did take a lunch break of 30mins that day.

Then yea I think you got screwed...it could of been a mistake but definitely talk to your boss about it. Hope everything works out!

All depends on if you're a salaried or hourly employee. I used to be salaried and therefore not get paid extra hours (we were compensated in other ways). Now I am hourly and get paid only the time I work (if we are closed I dont get paid).

i was salary so I didn't get paid if I worked OT at all.

for you.. on those days were you getting out at 3 that one day and 4 the other? so the 20 mins and 50 mins were like OT?


I would ask the boss what the situation is. Perhaps they don't pay OT either. If that's the case then just make sure your butt it out of there on time.

i will get paid OT if i mark my time sheet with the extra time... but i never spend extra time here...

it depends on the policy of your company.. at my last job my OT had to be approved before i would be paid for it... if i chose to stay on my own to work i would not get paid.. but if i was asked to stay (or if I asked to work late) i would get time and a half....

now i am salaried and OT exempt so it doesn't matter anymore....

no, i am an exempt employee so i do not get overtime. it's not too bad though because there are only a few days out of the year where we work beyond 8 hours. i used to work a job where i constantly worked 12 plus hours but never got OT for it.

Not unless I was specifically *asked* to work late.

If I get stuck working on something and leave at 5:30, even though my shift is 9-5, I don't get paid the extra half an hour. My boss expects me to hand that project over to the late shift person, but that's not usually feasible, especially because the late shift person is.... useless.

Nope..I'm salareied and am OT exempt. I don't even get a designated lunch break....just scarf down something when I have a minute or two.
