MC Question for my cousin....

my little cousin got pregnant and is in the mist of miscarrying.

I had a D&C so it's hard for me to gage how long she should bleed for. I did bleed a long time... but it's not the same as a natural mc...

those of you who had a natural mc... how long did you bleed for?

It started light yesterday and today it's heavier... and she's scared. I think she's just scared overall and thinks she's not OK. From what she's telling me, she is OK.

I just want to give her an idea of how long to expect heavy bleeding for.

PS 2nd question:

yesterday it was 1 pad every 4 or 5 hours.
Today it's 1 pad every 2 hours.

I think under 1 hour is cause for concern, is that right?

ahh 3rd Question:
she has to go on birth control. the dr has her starting birth control tomorrow. tomorrow will be the 2nd day of heavy bleeding. is it normal to start birth control that day? she's starting on the real pills, not the week of different colored period week pills (if you know what i mean).

I can answer a few of the questions. I wasn't put on birth control after so I am not sure how to answer that.

I started miscarrying naturally on Tuesday, at 7w2d on my own, confirmed by sono. Monday I had spotting and some pink, but it didn't turn red until Tuesday. Tuesday night into Wednesday was the worst. I felt like someone was stabbing me in my back, I moaned all night and bled a pad every 1.5-s2 hours I would say. I continued to bleed for another week straight, on and off heavy and then it went down to spotting. I o'ed exactly 12 day after I started miscarrying and got AF exactly 29 days from the start of the whole process. That period was really heavy too.

All and all it was my first pregnancy and I had no idea what to expect. I was scared too and it didn't feel normal. I did call the DR at one point to tell him about the size of clots and how much blood. He said everyone is different and it seemed fine. I also was going in for bloodwork almost every other day until it was down to 6.

I started bleeding on a Saturday, it was heavy for the next two days and by Monday it was like a regular period and then it tapered off into spotting on Tuesday/Wednesday and I stopped bleeding by Thursday.

i bled for about 22 days first 4-5 heavy to medium, the rest- spotting with occassional gusts of red blood. so i think she has nothing to be scared of in terms of bleeding.

bled for little more than a week..4 days heavy then reg like af then spotting..had cramping as well
