Electro-lux....expensive but worth it!
Had a Dyson and HATED it...don't know what all the hoopla is about them.

Re: Recommend your vacuum
I have the Dyson Ball and I love it. It has 3 attachments I LOVE - the one that goes under the refrigerator and the one that vacs under my bed, etc. without me having to get on the floor and one that vacs my furniture/stairs. I do have an Electrolux - it has the canister with the hose - it's not an upright - at my house upstate and I like it, it's fine for when we vacation but I couldn't use it everyday.
I prefer the Dyson at home. I have limited storage for it at home and I think the upright takes up less space and all the "accessories" attach to the upright, I don't have to store them somewhere else either. I don't like dragging around the hose of the canister type vac either. I like the canister to empty, I have 3 dogs and lots of dog hair and the Dyson is awesome for that. I don't like bags. I'd go through a bag a day, at least.
I don't know how often you have to vacuum. I vac everyday - honestly, I could do it 2x per day because of the dogs.
I think you have to ask yourself: 1. What am I vac'ing - pets/kids, etc. - am I going to vac everyday? 2. Storage space? 3. What kind of attachments doyou think you'll need? 4. Going from carpet to non-carpet flooring - doyou have to change the head or is there a button to change? (I have to change the head on my Electrolux - it's older. My Dyson there is a switch) 5. Bags vs. emptying a canister?
It's funny, but a vacuum cleaner is a very personal choice! Good luck with yours!

We have the shark as well and LOVE it! Omg, the amount that it picks up is incredible and so easy to empty out

My mom loves hers too.
We both had an Electrolux (from 2005), hers broke and she replaced it with a Miele and is so happy with it - she likes it so much better. She had Electrolux vacuums since before I was born that lasted years but, she said the newer ones weren't built as well.
