tibia fracture

Anyone ever have surgery for a tibia fracture??? I slipped and fell down the stairs two weeks ago and had surgery the following day--- The doc initially said I couldn't put any weight on my leg for 6weeks-- During a f/u appt. with another doc he said that it could be less--- I'm actually feeling 10x better since a week ago-- soreness and of course still black and blue--- if you had surgery before how long did it take to recover??? supposed to go on a cruise in 2 weeks so trying to be positive-

returning to the doc on wed to view xrays and from there I will have a better idea as to how long I will have to stay off my leg...

I had a spiral fracture to my tibia when i was a teenager. They didn't do any form of surgery though, just a cast for several months. What kind of surgery did they do?

i havent had one myself but i work in a rehab. center where many patients have had an ORIF for a tibia fx. i've had a few patients go 6 weeks non-weight bearing and some others go up to 12 weeks. i hope it's 6 weeks for you!
