My kitty is having her teeth cleaned today! - UPDATED...
I'm nervous for her since they have to put her under anesthesia to do it.
Thinking happy thoughts that she comes out of it with a happy mouth and feeling OK! 
***UPDATE***
Well, my little girl came through with flying colors!
They did have to extract 1 tooth while they were in her mouth. Apparently she had a really bad cavity that, if left alone, would have turned into a bad infection that could have affected the bone. So I'm glad that was caught. She has some stitches in her mouth that will disolve. I got to come home with before/after pictures of her teeth and pictures of her xrays!
They even gave her a mani/pedi while she was out... cutting her nails for me! Man, they cut them so much lower than I ever do!
All in all, I'm glad that I had this done. It was very expensive, though.
The vet that I now take her to is awesome too. They called me the day after to check in and see how she was doing!
Yeah!

Well, she's not really a baby! She is about 8 1/2.
I have tremendous fur-mommy guilt because I haven't really been taking her to the vet regularly for the last 3+ years since my DS was born. So when I took her recently for her shots and they told me her teeth were bad, I decided to suck up the incredibly shocking cost and have her teeth cleaned so that I can feel better and so that she can be healthy.
Now I just have to remember to start brushing her teeth after this is all done so that I won't need to get them cleaned again!

o wow.. i do check his teeth here and there.. but how do would you clean her teeth? is there a kitty brush?

Yeah, you can get a brush and toothpaste (I think it's malt flavor that they love) and brush them.
I know you will think this is crazy, but here's a video that shows you how to build up over time to get your cat used to it!

It'll be okay. In my experience, they did a light sedation for it. My cat had to be anesthetized for one of his vet visits because he was so wild, and they decided to clean his teeth while he was out. It really didn't take long at all. They just put him in the induction box and once he was out, they worked on him while he was out and was done by the time he was awake.
