The hubbey is in charge of all that but I really want to do some garlic and tomatoes. We've never had a garden before - this year is our first try...

Re: gardeners/farmers!!!
We do an herb garden- basil, parsley, italian celery, oregano, dill. Then we do: a few different types of tomatoes, cucumbers, a few different types of peppers, eggplant, last year we did corn..more for asthetics since the squirrels ate it all. Hmmm, I think there was something else...
We really don't start until May- there can be some cold April days.

Re: gardeners/farmers!!!
I just did my gardening planting chart yesterday.
I am starting indoors Starting in March into April (depending on the veggie). If planting indoors some seeds take 8-10 weeks before planting outside. But you don't have to start indoors. But for tomatoes, either stat indoors or buy plants. It takes way too long to start from seed outdoor after frost is gone.
Cucumber Zucchini Yellow squash Eggplants Peppers Tomatoes Strawberries.

Beets String beans swiss chard peppers
I mostly do it for the tomatoes will probably start the seeds soon, I can't remember exactly when I did it last year but will try this weekend or next.

You do it with starting trays. But I have the one with the clear cover.

Re: gardeners/farmers!!!
some herbs started today in tiny pots because i only do a terrace style garden so they can stay in small pots until warm out then transplant them in bigger bins.
doing potatoes, going to try garlic, peppers but sticking with herbs and some tea (herbs) since my parents have a huge garden and we duplicated efforts and was eating tomatoes for months and we still haven't gotten the handle on canning items. Might start indoors in late april. I am doing some bulbs indoors just have to check if they are toxic to the cats since they may try to eat them.

Re: gardeners/farmers!!!
In my mil's garden we have zucinni, tomatoes, eggplant, arugula (to die for).
My parents do tons of tomatoes, cherry tomatoes and cucumbers.
Unfortunately I have very hungry racooons so I'm scared to plant one myself!

Re: gardeners/farmers!!!
- Tomatoes (regular ones like Big Boy, and also cherry) - Cucumbers - Peppers
I have done a garden the past 2 summers, and these have yielded a TON.
- Eggplant
I tried eggplant last summer, but I planted it right next to my tomato plants, and it seemed like my tomato plants just got so huge and swallowed them right up... they got no sun and didn't do well at all
- Indoor herbs... I usually have a few different ones. Basil grows like crazy, I portion it out and freeze it.
- Strawberries or Blueberries... this will be my first time trying it, but I know these bushes don't usually yield anything the first year or two, oh well, gotta start sometime!
I also own an Aerogarden... got it as a gift a couple years ago... I usually rotate among cherry tomatoes, herbs, or lettuce in it. My fave thing to plant in there is lettuce, although everything has been pretty successful.
