Chemical Pregnancies?

Hi everyone. This past month was my first month TTC, and unfortunately, even though I got quite a few BFP's with some symptoms, it ended very early on. I am assuming what I am experiencing is a chemical pregnancy, but I'm not sure. I never saw my OB. If I had waited until AF was late I would never have known I was ever pregnant. I'm sad, but I'm trying to stay positive.

I was wondering if anyone else experienced this. If you did, and you don't mind sharing, did it affect your cycles in any way going forward? If you got pregnant again, how long (how many cycles) after the chemical did it take?

I know that what I am going through is pretty common, and it's not necessarily an indication that anything is wrong with my body or my ability to stay pregnant in the future, but I was hoping to hear some reassurance from ladies on here who have gone through the same thing.

Also, I hope it's ok to post on here. I know it was so incredibly early to have had a loss, but it still hurts pretty bad.Chat Icon

My experience was not a chemical pregnancy, I had a miscarriage.

I just wanted to say that I am sorryChat Icon A pregnancy loss is disappointing whether you are 1 day pregnant, 2 weeks pregnant or 3 months pregnant.

I wish you the best of luck next time.Chat Icon

I had a chemical and my RE told me to wait a month for this reason.

I agree that 1 chemical is not necessarily cause for concern and they ARE common, but if it happens again, I'd bring it up to a dr! Chat Icon

Re: Chemical Pregnancies?

I had a chemical and my doc told me there was no reason to wait any time at all. The u/s showed that my uterus was totally cleaned out. So, no need to wait. I never had a cycle after that chemical loss and am now 14 weeks pg again.

Good luck to you on this journey and please don't feel like your loss was "too early" to be so upset about. A loss is a loss no matter how far along you are!

i had two chemicals. the first one i didnt have to wait at all. the second i had to wait one cycle. the difference was the HCG level. the first chemical i only knew i was preg cause i had bloodwork done, and the HCG was borderline positive. the second one was clearly positive on HPTs and bloodwork, and i didnt actually m/c until 5w2d.
since you never saw a doctor and dont know what your levels were, did you m/c at the time AF wouldve been late? or did it happen several days later? if it was at about the time AF was due your levels were prob pretty low so you prob dont need to wait. if it was a week or so late then you might want to see a doctor to make sure the numbers went back down to 0 - although you can still try even if they didnt - but you might O later than normal.

either way

I got AF pretty much the day it was due. I'm not sure exactly, but I normally would have been expecting it that day or the day before.

The only reason I knew anything was wrong was because I tested at 9, 10 and 11DPO and I got BFP's (although by 11DPO the line seemed to be disappearing). By 12 and 13DPO I was getting definite BFN's.

I regret testing so early.Chat Icon

Re: Chemical Pregnancies?

I had many, what I thought were chemicals but were probably ectopic pregnancies. I always waited at least 1 month after hcg was below 5.Chat Icon

I just thought I'd add... I DID get AF on the day it was due and only knew I was pregnant because I tested on 12dpo. By that evening even, I started spotting.. and by the next day it was finished. I had a beta of 15. If I hadn't tested or wasn't trying to get pregnant, I would never have known..... and I was still told to wait a month.
