Just when I thought everything was over and behind me, if you saw when you passed the sac please come in - wayyy TMI - Results are in!!!!

I got what I thought was my period on Tuesday. It was pretty light bleeding for AF though - and no cramping like I normally get.

Today I had really bad cramps. I actually said to my DH that this is what I would imagine contractions would feel like. It also felt like someone was stabbing me in the vagina.

I was getting ready to go out to dinner and went to the bathroom, and alot of blood came out. Fine - no big deal, changed my pad at that was it.

Went into the bedroom and felt another gush. I took a baby wipe that was right there and wiped. I looked at the wipe and I think I had the sac there. I don't understand how it's possible since nothing was seen on the sono last time I was there - but this was a membrane like substance. It was the size of a tampon and a few inches long.

I took it and it's in a ziploc baggie and hopefully my doctor can test it.

If this isn't the sac - what the heck could it be?
Is it possible it could be the sac when they saw nothing on the last sono?

Just when I think I can put this behind me something happens to bring it all right back.

Update!

I did in fact pass the sac. But because it was so old they couldn't get many answers from it, which I'm ok with. They said that it's a normal miscarriage and that I can start trying after two menstral cycles (we will most likely be waiting longer than that to try though - but who knows)

I'm happy that it's the sac, and that I saw it, and am now able to put it passed me. I still can't believe it was inside me for so many weeks after but the important thing is everything is out now.

If they saw nothing on the sono last time it's very likely that what you found today wasn't the sac. If it was, however, there is very little chance that any testing would be conclusive since it has been dead tissue for so long. I'm sorry Diana.

I did loads of googling last night and I think its def the sac. I just don't understand where the heck in my body it was since they didn't see it :(

i wouldnt go by google... you should call your doctor.... if your beta was negative i dont think its possible for it to be the sac...

it might have been a large clot!

Get it into water, not just a ziploc.
I cant imagine what it could be but let them figure it out. I wonder if it could be a piece of your uterus lining that is healing from the miscarriage. I am likely to say that its not from the miscarriage if there was nothing on the sono and your HCG levels were low. BUT I think its worth keeping and letting them find out what it is.

When I m/c I did pass the sac intact - looked like a robin's egg, and I did bring it to be tested. All they could determine from it was that it was "normal pregnancy tissue". They couldn't examine it like they do when you have a D&C (I was interested in finding out the gender for closure but it wasn't possible).
I def. could have been although it seems so far off to be just coming out now. Could be tissue. I hope they can determine for you what it was and if it can tell you anything further for closure for yourself. I know how upsetting that can be

Oh boy, I am so sorry you are going through this. Is it possible the sac detatched from you and was lying at the bottom of you uterus or even in your cervix and that is why the dr. didnt see it? I doubt it but I just read
another forum about a girl who took forever to pass the sac and in the end the dr. did see it laying in her cervix or something.

Again I am so sorry about all of this! You have been bleeding for awhile too right? I just started miscarrying naturally but am thinking of finishing out with a d&c bc I dont want this to go on for too long (the bleeding) - I am already getting sick of running to the toilet and checking/changing my pads.

i am sure it was the sac. your beta might have be dropping at the time they did u/s and was below 1,500, so sac was not visible. My sac looked exactly how you described it

I'm sorry! I hope they are able to test it and tell you what it was. I have passed a sac after a m/c and also have had large clots (sometimes bigger than golf balls) during AF due to endomitriosis. The best way I can explain the difference is in the color, the sac was a grayish/tannish color, clots are dark purple/marroon.

I just heard back from the doctors office. They were very sweet. She said she couldn't believe how big it was when she went to look because I was very nonchalant about it. I told her that after staring at it, and examining it for two days it wasn't that shocking to me anymore

I think they think it's the sac too. She didn't come out and say it, and they are very confused as to why it wasn't showing up in sonos or my bloodwork. The only thing Dr. Hanauer said was that it could have detached itself and been on it's way out - and that if this is my period, this may have been the thing to flush it out.

The bleeding has slowed a bit so that's a good sign I guess.

I'm anxious to get the test results back to see what this was, and if we could find out any details at all.

Did your beta ever hit less then 5 prior to this coming down?
When my betas were still high and the sono was showing "stuff" still left behind, I remember the dr saying if it doesnt come out now, it will come out with AF.

I started miscarrying naturally too, I think I mentioned that above but anyway I have been checking to see if anything comes out too (ewww) but my sac was measuring less than 1 cm so I wasnt sure if I would see anything at all. I had a follow-up sono today and they still see some tissue or something in there so they want to just finish the job and i am def on board with that.

I was almost seven weeks when I started bleeding.

The sac looked like the top of a tampon. It was that kind of shape (or the shape of a peach pit) It was about as long from my knuckle to the end of my finger on my pinky finger. I was worried the whole time that I wouldn't see it but it was a very decent size. When I pushed on it (not to be too gross) but it didn't seperate like a blood clot would. It was obviously something of a membrane material. Once I got it into water it was even more clear.

I hope that helps - I know I never knew what to look for so I was always examining the littlest of blood clots.

Did they talk about giving you Cytotech? They gave me that when I still had tissue left.

There was still tissue in my uterus for a few weeks so they gave me the cytotec. After that the tissue seemed to be gone. The doctor was also able to grab some tissue in his office (not pleasant at all)

Good luck at your D&C tomorrow! I'll be thinking about you!

As far as trying again - this baby was a complete surprise. We knew we wanted a third but were going to start trying in early summer. We are back to our original plan to hopefully give my body some time to heal. After being pregnant I also realized that my younger son (who was 16 months at the time) is still really a baby and I would like him to be a bit older as I go through another pregnancy!
