Is Zumba hard?

I've heard it is a lot of fun, but if you're not in shape, and haven't exercised in maaannnnyyyyy years, is it better to build up a cardio routine first before paying for this and not being able to do it?

Re: Is Zumba hard?

It's definitely not hard but will be easier if you have good rhythm and can follow dance routines. You can make the class easier if you want by making movement smaller. I personally love it and its a great way to make an hour of working out more fun!

Re: Is Zumba hard?

I very overweight and not in shape and I have so much fun doing Zumba. I was so worried to go to my first class, but I did it and now I go 3 times a week.

The first class I went to the instructor said to make it as high impact or low impact as you want. She said to just keep moving and keep your heart rate up.

Re: Is Zumba hard?

It depends on the instructor, and how much you put into it...

Most people get more frustrated with the choreography than the impact or intensity.

You MUST give yourself at least 2 classes to familiarize yourself with the format. If you get too frustrated with the choreography, then you won't stick around long enough to enjoy the benefits...

Re: Is Zumba hard?

I just took my first class tonight. It was not hard but it was pretty intense. I was really sweating by the end of the warm up. It was a lot of fun. Give it a try! You can always modify the movements to make them a bit easier...like doing the feet for a move but not the arms.
