Looking for recommendations of home heating oil companies. Who are you using and what price are you paying? TIA!

I use Meenan. We locked at the end of last year. $3.59.9. We have a platinum service contract for $99.

Oil is high and we have an older burner and a steam heat system so I prefer not to do COD.

I really like Meenan as my oil company. Since I have to deal with an oil company I might as well like the experience.

we have slomins''' we pretty much swith each year depending on where we get the best deal... but they are all about the same I think, its about when you sign the contract more than anything else.
We signed back in June I think... we pay .40 less than the daily price the day of delivery.

We just went thru this. It's almost not worth it now to lock in on anything. The market is so volitle right now. A lot of companies weren't even offering ceiling or fixed pricing because of this. We decided to go with just a variable rate with Slomins and they give us 30 cents off market value. In the summer, I'll call again to see if the prices improved and look to lock on something then.

Thanks for your feedback. The market is very volatile so seems like we'll be floating for a while as well. I appreciate the responses.

HOME HEATING OIL PRICE GOUGING -

Do your research, here are some prices from April 2012 you should be aware of.

I have been a Meenan customer since mid 2000's. I recently have been harassed to renew my price ceiling contract which expired in the winter. The pricing department (U know who u r) finally got a hold of me in early April 2012 and offered me something like 4.70something/gallon until April 2013. I said no thanks I will shop around. So I started by looking at NYSERDA Home Heating Oil on Google. Then I called around to get a better idea of what other oil companies were offering.

I called up Petro and they are actually a "sister company" to Meenan. They forwarded my info to the promotional pricing department of Meenan...more on that later.,..

I got better pricing from Romanelli and sons 3.99 until December of this year (best price in my research)

I got decent pricing from Morania at 4.15 until April 2013. Also offered a Service package of about $100 for 12 months then $200 for renewal.

I called back thinking I was going to cancel Meenan formally. But then I got the PROMOTIONAL PRICING department offered me $4.10/gallon. That cost difference will save me like $450 based on my usage per year. I also got them to give me next delivery at 3.70.

They also charge me about 250 for service and that is absurd. I got them to throw in a credit toward that as well.

My point is that this Meenan claims to charge more due to their commitment to customer service etc. However they do not operate with INTEGRITY.

I hope this post sheds light on MEENAN's price gouging practices and makes us informed consumers who can root out this behavior and save some money.

PLEASE POST YOUR PRICING FOR OIL AND ALL PERTINENT INFO so we can learn from each other.

I too haven't locked again with meenan because they want to charge me $4.70 a gal. I need a service contract though so was going to shop. Petro is the sister company and I haven't called them yet this year. It's total crap.
