Failed the one hour glucose test
Blah, I'm so annoyed that I failed. My doctor's office called and said, your sugar was a LITTLE high.... your doctor would like you to go back and take the three hour test... I had to take off of work to get the test done, but the good thing is, I will be taking the three hour one over the April break for school.... just sucks.
Any advice for the three hour? When should I have dinner the night before? I didn't eat until after eight the last time.

Re: Failed the one hour glucose test
same thing happened to me and I passed the 3 hour. I didn't do anything special beforehand. As a matter of fact, I am almost certain that I ate chocolate the day before

Re: Failed the one hour glucose test
I just passed my 3 hour last week. I hear that most of the time, people who fail the 1 hour, will still pass the 3 hour.
I was so distraught though over the 1 hour because my OB had told me at that same appointment that he was concerned about my weight gain. So I had pretty much already put a new eating plan into action. I was so paranoid.
I wasn't allowed to eat or drink anything (not even water) from 8pm on. It s u c k e d but I got through it.

This is very true!
I failed my 1 hour by "a few points" but passed 3 hour with flying colors.
Don't worry about what you eat the day before. Just make sure you fast a full 12 hours before. My first blood draw was 7 am so I didn't eat after 7 the night before.
But I did drink water up until my first blood draw. Once you drink the glucose you can't drink anymore.

Re: Failed the one hour glucose test
Thanks everyone! I'm just thinking about it now and I got my blood drawn after 8 in the morning.. but I went out to dinner the night before, and I don't think we left the restaurant until 9:30... so that is probably why I failed it.... lol

Re: Failed the one hour glucose test
When I failed my 1 hour test I was upset...so you can Image when i failed the 3 hour test how cranky i was. I was 111 lbs before I got pregnant and not a likely candidate( what I thought) to have gestational diabetes. But weight doesn't matter. I had to go to a nutritionist and I cried in the office the thought of counting calories and scheduling meals.....and I was bitchy for a good 2 weeks especially Im not a water drinker ( I love sweet tea) but you know I think it was the best thing that happened during my pregnancy. Up to that point I gained 21 lbs. I am due next week and have only gained a total of 24 lbs. and have felt great my whole pregnancy. So don't worry. If you do fail it will be ok and i will share some great recipes I have made up to get through it.

Re: Failed the one hour glucose test
for the 3 hour i had to fast for 12 hours....so just dont eat anymore 12 hours prior to when you are going in. i was allowed to have unsweetened water. i know some girls alter what they eat the day before but i wouldnt really suggest that because you could be masking GD. is it worth it to alter your food to pass and then have GD and not know about it and take care of it?
