Re: ADD ADHD...

Thanks...

I had the hardest time finding a doctor to make the diagnosis. The neurologists at LIJ dont handle ADD/ADHD and refer you to their Developmental and Behavioral Pediatric Department...

I was then told they dont take my insurance...which is really odd b/c, well, everyone takes my insurance.

I then called a few other neuros only to be referred to D&BPD again..

Finally found one....

Very weird....

Re: ADD ADHD...

We always tell parents who want an outside eval to start with a psychologist.

Re: ADD ADHD...

when DS was in kindergarten he was given the Conners assessment by the school psychologist, with my consent, and I then took those results to a child neurologist who did further testing and gave him the diagnosis.

ETA: we went to dr greg rosenn, pediatric neurology, in plainview. the wait was so long to see him, so we saw one of the NP's at the office, they were wonderful there

This is essentially the route Im taking....

I called the school psych a few months ago asking her to send the Conners test to my DDs teachers. I then took those results to her ped who referred me to a neurologist. Since my eldest daughter is a patient of Dr Smith I called them first..they referred me to LIJ D&B..Im not a fan of Dr Atluru's office although I was happy enough with her over the years but I didnt want to call her...So I then called another office only to be referred again to LIJ D&B...

Called Dr Rosen's office and got an appointment next week with one of the NPs. I really dont mind seeing the NP. I know my DD is ADD. She's always had the attention span of a flea. It just never effected her school before this year. When I spoke to the school psych she said it is rather common for this type of thing to happen.

I just want to start meds now before the end of school so I can get her current teachers assessment of whether or not it's working...KWIM?
