Swollen gland in neck- what to do?
Last night I noticed a gland up in my neck, on one side. It's a bit sore too. Thing is, I feel fine- not sick or feverish.
Is it worth going to the doctor? I got a nasty scratch from my cat the other night and read that could actually lead to glands swelling. But that's never happened before.

Do you have maybe a canker sore in your mouth or maybe one of your earring holes irritated? I get a swollen gland with either of these. Actually just felt hte swollen gland this week, worried what it was and the next day felt a nasty canker sore in the back of my mouth so that explained the swollen gland on that side.

Funny you should mention mouth related things. I lost a crown and subsequently broke the rest of the tooth. I haven't dealt with it because I hate the dentist. But it doesn't hurt- so I don't know. I checked my ears because that's happened before too, but never this badly.
Thanks for your reply!

Could be related to inflammation if your tooth area for SURE. Is it the same side? If I even get a canker sore the gland on that side swells.
You are welcome. I worried too the other day when I felt the gland and it hurt. I couldn't find anything wrong though (ears, no cold, etc)> then bam, the next day big canker sore in the back of my mouth on that side. So I knew it was that brewing. Gland feels much better now.

I would definitely go see your doctor if it hasn't gone away. It could be anything.

Could be cat scratch fever, my dh had it several years ago and its caused by a cat scratch or a cat bite. His lymph node swelled and he had to get antibiotics.
