Do you drive long distances alone?
Like, 4 hours or more?
I will confess I never have done it alone, and my crazy mind always make me fearful.
What about you?

Re: Do you drive long distances alone?
Totally alone I have no problem with. Weirdly, if I have my kids with me I get a little freaked out.

Re: Do you drive long distances alone?
Nope. I am bad with directions, bad with bridges, bad with driving in general. I don't drive off Long Island alone. Never have.

Re: Do you drive long distances alone?
I have done it solo to my parents house (about 4.5 hours) and I would do it myself with my kids. Everyone else seems more worried about it than me!

Re: Do you drive long distances alone?
I hate, hate driving on major hwys. Like I want to throw up when we hit the Belt.so, yeah no. I close my eyes over any bridge, so im sure that wont work either. Hate it. I drove like 4 exits in VA when we dove to NC. Dh almost had a stoke watching me almost have a stroke.

Re: Do you drive long distances alone?
When I was in college I drove to 4.5 hours to school or home by myself at times. Now, I wouldn't do it. Don't know why, just wouldn't, unless it was mid-day, maybe. Back then I drove through the night.

Re: Do you drive long distances alone?
Yes, my parents live at least 5 hours away. I do it often. It can be boring, but I enjoy cranking my tunes and singing.
ETA: I like driving.

Re: Do you drive long distances alone?
I've done it. The only part of it that makes me nervous is from the Belt Pkwy until I get out of the city.

Re: Do you drive long distances alone?
My longest trip alone was 2 1/2hrs and I hated it. Not because I hate driving or am scared but because I have an old car with problems and I'm always afraid of breaking down somewhere.

I have done it but don't do it anymore since my back is too unpredictable.

Re: Do you drive long distances alone?
I've driven cross country and through Europe on my own. Sometimes a long drive by yourself is the best!

Re: Do you drive long distances alone?
I would have no issues ... but.......
I never pumped my own gas So, that would be really the only thing stopping me!!
I know where all the full service stations are locally.. but if I traveled a great distance... unless I was traveling to NJ where it's illegal to pump it by YOURSELF, I'd be in trouble!!

Re: Do you drive long distances alone?
No and I dont plan to unless i absolutely have to. I get myself so confused with directions and exits and bridges. I have driven as far as Queens alone and that was good enough, it was a terrible ride with DH on the other line freaking the h e l l cause got off the wrong exit on the Cross Island....at least I think that's the road I got off the wrong exit on

Re: Do you drive long distances alone?
When I was about 22 I drove from NY to IN by myself to bring my new (used) car there. It was about 14 hours. I stayed overnight at my friend's place in Pittsburgh on the way. I really enjoyed doing and have no problem driving somewhere alone.
I've driven to and from Maine by myself since then. It's about a 7/8 hour drive to my grandma's cabin.

Re: Do you drive long distances alone?
I have done it and not minded at all ... in fact really enjoyed it.
Since DH and I moved in together, I haven't had my own car (because we live in Queens and it's just too much of a hassle to park, and I was working in Manhattan anyway and didn't need my own). So I haven't really had the opportunity (or excuse ) to go on any long rides without him. I do miss it, I always loved road trips - with or without another person.

Re: Do you drive long distances alone?
I have driven by myself to Charlottesville Va many times and loved the ride. I have also taken a "road trip" or two to Atlantic City in my younger days. I also used to visit a friend in Erie PA
I find driving peaceful and I am a confident driver with not many travel safety issues.

Re: Do you drive long distances alone?
I haven't had the opportunity to but I don't imagine I would have a problem with it.
I drove to DC and back last year to pick my dad up from the hospital. DH was with me on the way there and my parents on the way back, but I did all the driving. My azz killed afterwards.

Re: Do you drive long distances alone?
I have driven alone to Florida before I was married or had kids at least 10 times.
After I had kids, I also drove with me and them alone. I did the trip 5 times in the last 3 years.

Re: Do you drive long distances alone?
I've done about 5 hours alone. It's not pleasant, but it's okay. On Sunday I have to drive two hours to my in-laws and two hours back...does that count as four hours total? I'm not looking forward to it.
