How is it going out to restaurants with a toddler and infant?
2yo DS is finally good at eating at restaurants. He still makes a bit of a mess but at least he eats and sits at the table.
We have reservations at a fancy restaurant for Mother's Day. I can't help but think this may be a bad idea. It will be our first time eating out with the new baby.
I remember taking turns eating and rushing through our meal on Mother's Day with DS#1 when he was 2 months old. It wasn't all that enjoyable. I'm assuming it will just be that much worse since we now have a 2yo AND a 2m old.

Honestly, it depends on your infant.
DD was such a good baby that she was completely fine in restaurants.
never fussed or cried. she just chilled out in her carseat.
So, for us, it was no different to go out to eat when DD came, as it was with just DS. DS was a typical 2 year old, and we would worry more about entertaining him than anything else.
Now, DS #1 was a really fussy baby and cried all the time. We could never go out to eat with him when he was an infant.

Totally depends on the temperment of the baby. With mine as a newborn- NO WAY. She cried constantly. Fussed, screamed, never slept.
It took us about 9 months to finally brave a restaurant with her.
But if your baby is different- quiet, sleeps, chills out- I say go for it!

We have yet to eat out with the baby. We take him out on stroller walks and when he falls asleep, we can leave him in the stroller for quite a while when we get home. Hopefully we'll get lucky and he sleeps at the restaurant. He isn't on any type of schedule yet.
eta: I forgot I took the baby out to eat with my friends. He was fussy and we all took turns bouncing him. That is what we did with DS#1. DH and I would always take turns eating. Then we didn't eat out together for like half a year.

How is he in the Bjorn or carrier?
We went to Montauk when DD was 2 months and I had her in the Bjorn while we were eating.
She just fell asleep against me.

Re: How is it going out to restaurants with a toddler and infant?
As others have said, it depends on your kids. Just get out there! What's the worst that's going to happen?
I've taken my DC out to eat about twice a week since the first was born. Now they are 5, 4 (on Sunday...yay!) and 6 months. The first was the worst, but it sounds like yours is good. For us now, they are awesome. Seriously. The only issue we have now is who needs to use the bathroom multiple times, meanwhile we all just went before we left the house...

I always hope that 2yo will be better when he turns 3 or 4....
Just the thought of having 2 toddlers is frightening. 2yo DS is sooooooooooooooo much work.

Re: How is it going out to restaurants with a toddler and infant?
Like others have said... depends on the kid.
DD is almost 2 now and DS is 10 months old. When DS was an infant, we could go out to eat because DD is REALLY great when we go out, and DS would just sleep/veg out. NOW.... we can't go out to eat at this point because of DS. He is TERRIBLE at restaurants. DD is still an angel but DS is just out of control. We're hoping it passes soon. lol

It depends on your kids.
We have been eating out at least 3x a week since my 1 ds was born. Now that we have 4 DC we still eat out that much but I bring lots of stuff to keep them entertained. I have a 4 year old, a 3 year old and my twins our 2. I bring crayons and colororing books, iPad, and stickers and that usually keeps them for awhile.
It will get easier as the LO gets older. Enjoy Mothers Day!

Re: How is it going out to restaurants with a toddler and infant?
My kids went to all sorts of fine dining restaurants unp until about 4 mos when they were more alert. Now at 2.5 they are wonderful in restaurants. The only thing they might do is scream, but we can usually quiet them. Try it out, if it is bad, just leave

really depends on the baby. DS is 18 months and there is no way we could go to a fancy restaurant with him right now. However up until DS was 9-10 months old he sat peacefully in his infant carrier and wouldnt make a peep.

Re: How is it going out to restaurants with a toddler and infant?
I think it depends on t he baby. We haven't been out to eat since DD2 was born, she is a very fussy baby - cries a lot. IF she was more mellow and slept in the carrier, I'd have no problem going out with her.
