Question for mom's who currently have an infant/toddler
I am 18wks and have a 10 month old who weighs 21lbs. People keep telling me I shouldn't pick him up because I may hurt my baby. Are you constantly picking up your infant/toddler? Are you worry something may happen to your baby?

Re: Question for mom's who currently have an infant/toddler
I never heard such a thing - what are you suppose to do with the toddler? I am almost 20 weeks and the last week or so my son has been sick and constantly in my arms being carried around. Exhausting since he is like 33lbs but what can you do? I think people worry too much. I can see it getting harder with a bigger belly but I have to hold my son.
I just worry when he wants to wrestle and he likes to come and jump right smack on mommy's belly -my belly is still kind of small but it hurts when he does this and it gets me nervous...I try to keep him wrestling with daddy these days instead of mommy.

Re: Question for mom's who currently have an infant/toddler
I am 20 weeks and constantly pick up and hold my 2 year old. I dont see any other option and dont think it will harm the baby.

Re: Question for mom's who currently have an infant/toddler
I've been picking up DD since the very beginning, she's about 19lbs. it's impossible not too, I am home all day with her.
I was never told not too, as long as your pg isn't high risk or having bleeding or complications, I wouldn't see why you couldn't
Just lift with your legs and not your back. You can def hurt yourself if you don't lift them the right way.
ETA: I am almost 24 weeks.

Re: Question for mom's who currently have an infant/toddler
I'm 39 weeks and have been picking up DS, who is 21 months and probably 30lbs now. There's no way around it it. There are times when I physically don't feel like picking him up (usually when going up the stairs), so I'll make him walk.

Re: Question for mom's who currently have an infant/toddler
I still pick up my 5 year old [usually just to give her a hug]! It's actually easier NOW with my center of gravity in a different place! [even she tells me i shouldn't do it! ]

Re: Question for mom's who currently have an infant/toddler
my 14 mth old is 21 lbs and I've been picking her up from the beginning....don't have much choice but I try not to do it too much or when I feel strained. I'll sit on the floor with her or put her on the couch with me

Re: Question for mom's who currently have an infant/toddler
yup - there's no way to get around it - unless you are high risk - and maybe in the beginning - but I pick up my 28 pounder all the time.

Re: Question for mom's who currently have an infant/toddler
I'm 24 weeks and DS is probably close to 25lbs. I still hold him when I have to. I really don't have a choice especially since he doesnt walk. Although I do not hold him all day. It's really only when I need to bring him upstairs to change his diaper or lift him to move to his high chair or walker and that is it other wise he crawls all over the place.

Re: Question for mom's who currently have an infant/toddler
Im 15 weeks and have 2-25lb toddlers running around... I try not to carry them around too too much and I am very careful lifting them. I think it would be impossible not to though...

Re: Question for mom's who currently have an infant/toddler
I am 15 weeks and have a 35 pound 3 1/2 year old who likes to be picked up and snuggled, and I have a 29 pound 21 month old who needs to be carried sometimes.
I consider it my weight-training
