Similac Alimentum eaters
We were just switched to this formula and were a little shocked by the price difference. Where is the best place to get it?
My dr said if the bby does well with it he will write a letter to my insurance company to see if they will cover some of the costs....i wonder if they would???

Re: Similac Alimentum eaters
We found the best place to buy it was BJ's. I'm trying to remember, but I think a case of (6) RTF bottles was about $50.

Re: Similac Alimentum eaters
A lot of girls on here had their insurance companies cover the cost. Unfortunately, mine did not. Luckily, I scored a TON from a poster on here who didn't need it anymore as well as tons of cans of powdered from a friend of my MIL's who happens to work for Abbott.
DEFINITELY have you ped write a letter of medical neccessity and file a claim with your ins. company.

When we first switched to Alimentum, I definitely found Amazon.com to be the best deal. If you join Amazon moms you get free shipping w/it. We recently won the battle w/our insurance company and now have it 80% covered! It was a long process though, and we are still awaiting reimbursement for some that we bought before they approved coverage. Make sure you keep all receipts! If you have any questions about the process of applying for coverage, please feel free to FM me. One of these days I was going to write it all up and post it as a PSA for the other moms who are interested. Also, I have some extra RTF Alimentum if you are interested. I think I have a few bottles and cans that the doctor had given us for free. FM me if you are interested b/c DS only takes the powder, and we now get it directly from a medical supply company.

Re: Similac Alimentum eaters
King Kullen was having a 15% off baby formula sale and it was actually a little bit cheaper to get it there with the sale than BJ's. If the sale is over, the cases at BJ's are the cheapest. What insurance do you have? Oh, and keep your receipts bc my insurance co. told me that they'll reimburse me for what I laid out for the formula while waiting for the delivery

my friend in long island is a teacher and both her sons had it covered through their insurance (teachers union.)
I however lost all appeals with my insurance for it. I was lucky enough to buy it from moms on here who had lots left over and gave me a good deal.

Re: Similac Alimentum eaters
BJ's Buy Buy Baby Babies R Us, in that order.
BJs would not accept a Similac check from me that had someone else's name on it, so since BRU would, it was cheaper for me to buy it there. My ped. just wrote out a scrip for it, and we're finallly getting it covered. Definitely have yours do it if it works for your LO!

So far it's been almost 24 hours and I see such a difference in my DS. I hope he continues to do well on it.

I'm in Queens, so I don't know if this helps, but the one in Maspbeth (I think - it's on Metropolitan Ave,) and the one in College Point both carry them.

BJ's does not sell Alimentum from my experience (the one in Farmingdale or Levittown)
